[iOS & Android][Free for early users] TallyTrip: Itinerary, Budget & Journal

[iOS & Android][Free for early users] TallyTrip: Itinerary, Budget & Journal

I've noticed there are many travel apps posted here every day, so here is one more!!

TallyTrip, which I built, brings trip planning, expense tracking, and travel journaling together in one clean, ad-free app.

Key features:

  • Scan flight, hotel, and booking confirmations

  • Build your own checklist or use a template

  • Tap to navigate your next stops in Google Maps

  • Scan receipts and track expenses automatically

  • Multi-currency expense tracking

  • Write while it’s fresh. Add photos and write

  • what you saw and how you felt

I used to use google docs, apple notes, and Google Maps to plan trips. I was struggling with switching between different apps for one trip. TallyTrip helps you stay organized by keeping your flight and hotel bookings, itinerary, and travel expenses all in one place. It can also scan booking confirmations and receipts to reduce manual data entry, so you can spend less time organizing and more time enjoying your trip. That being said, I still love digging through instagram reels, posts and blogs to find hidden gems. The app is not meant to replace the "research" part of travel planning. It will simply reduce your manual work.

If you travel often (or have a trip coming) I’d love for you to give it a try and let me know what you think!

By the way, I created this image manually in Figma, not with AI, unlike many of the images that I've seen here.

Happy Travels!

Travel planning, itinerary, and tracking expenses?

I am a frequent traveler, and my instagram is full of travel blog reels and posts. Everyone has their own ways of planning trips and tracking expenses. Just curious about how other people do.

What tools do you use to work on your itinerary?

I used to use google docs and nowadays I also use chatgpt. But whenever I revise my itinerary, chatgpt cannot always make everything consistent.. frustrating. So google docs is still the winner here. But then google docs is not the most visually appealing or intuitive thing to use on an iPhone during the trip.

Do you track your trip expenses? And how ?

I heard from my friends that there are not many people tracking expesnes. Could be true. But it's just hard to believe that. I’ve been tracking my trip expenses for years through google sheets, summing up the total and comparing spending across trips and categories. I have to keep all my receipts and manually type everything into a spreadsheet. Yes. it’s cumbersome. But, it sounds weird, but it feels good to see the final total and how money was spent.

What apps do you use to stay organized when planning and budgeting your trips?

I know there are many travel apps out there. The most popular ones seem to be Wanderlog and Stippl. But they are just too complicated for me to use. Too many features that I’m not interested in and full of ads.

This simple travel app that I recently built only has three features: itinerary planning, expense tracking, and journaling. To be honest, I cannot compete those well funded apps. The goal of the app is simply to reduce manual work. Scanning a screenshot of your booking confirmation automatically creates an itinerary entry. Taking a photo of your receipt automatically records the amount, vendor, category, and date. Being able to categorize all of my spending during a trip makes me feel good.

Personally, I still like digging into must-visit places and restaurants through tripadvisor, instagram, and google maps on my own. Or sometimes I don’t plan much at all and just enjoy whatever surprises me at the destination. Everyone has their own way of finding their gems.

So I want people to keep enjoying their own research using whatever platforms they like. The only thing this app helps with is reducing manual work and making trip tracking more visually appealing and easier to manage.

Would love to hear your opinions on the app, called TallyTrip: Travel Planner. If you’re interested in trying it, I’d really appreciate any critical feedback. Too complicated to use? Needs more features? Missing something obvious? Anything.

Hope your summer vacations are going well! I just came back from one vacation, not too far from home and am planning another one far from home :)

A travel app that helps travelers stay organized with itinerary and expenses

I am a frequent traveler. I go on a trip every other month, whether it's small or big. For years, my travel plans were scattered across emails, notes, Google Sheets, screenshots, and more.

I’m also a bit obsessed with tracking expenses. I like keeping every receipt and analyzing my spending after a trip. For the longest time, I manually entered everything into Excel spreadsheets. It worked, but it was incredibly time-consuming.

I know there are some great travel apps out there, but I found many require subscriptions and show ads.

So eventually, I decided to build my first app myself. I’m not a software engineer, but recent advances in AI made it possible to learn and build much faster, though I have to say it was not easy!

Regardless of how many people end up using it, building something from scratch and solving a problem I personally experience has been one of the most rewarding parts.

I’ve been using TallyTrip for my recent NYC trip and found it genuinely useful. I want travel enthusiasts everywhere to know about this app.

Summer is here. If you have a trip coming up, I’d love for you to give it a try and share your feedback. I’m always looking for ways to make it better.

Need 12 testers for my travel tracking app (will test yours)

Hello! I built the travel tracking app, called TallyTrip, that helps you with trip planning, expense tracking, and travel journaling together in one place. I got frustrated about juggling multiple tools for a single trip and decided to make this all-in-one app for trip.

If you travel often (or have a trip coming), please test my app (12 testers needed), and any feedback is welcome. Leave comments below, and I’ll test your app back.

📋 Scan your booking confirmations - flights and hotels organized automatically in your itinerary
💰 Snap a receipt to fill in automatically
💰 Track expenses by category with live currency conversion
📍 Tap saved location to open Google Maps for easy navigation
📖 Journal your favorite meals, places, and surprises
