Recommendation for good trip/tour organizers in India for international trip

I am planning for couples trip to Italy and looking out for good tour operators and organizers.

Please do share your experiences and the main reason to ask is because of the trust factor. I've heard bad reviews for most of them. Either their post-trip experience is not great or they charge a lot of money, which doesn't necessarily be the cost. I am looking for ones who are actually making money from the hotels or commissions on that basis and charging a small fee is fine. That is what I'm looking for.

We're flying to Croatia in a few days... and just got left without a place to stay. We really need advice.

Hi everyone,

My friend and I are in a really difficult situation and we're hoping someone here might have some advice or know someone who could help.

A few months ago, during an Erasmus trip, we met a Croatian student. We stayed in touch, and recently we talked about visiting her in Croatia. She agreed to host us for free, and in return we planned to host her when she comes to France. It was meant to be a simple cultural exchange between friends.

Because we had a place to stay, we booked our flights. We are supposed to arrive on July 10th.

Unfortunately, things suddenly changed. She has stopped helping us and has essentially cancelled on us at the last minute. Our flights are non-refundable, and we simply don't have enough money to afford hotels or other accommodation.

We're now facing the possibility of arriving in Croatia with nowhere to sleep.

We're not asking for money. We're mainly looking for advice, recommendations, or if anyone knows someone who might be able to help us find a very cheap place to stay, a hostel, a couch, or any other solution.

We'll be incredibly grateful for any suggestions or contacts. Thank you so much for taking the time to read this.

Help Planning a 7 Week Asia Trip

Hi everyone!

I'm planning a 7-week trip, and I'm hoping it'll be the trip of a lifetime. I'm 27, traveling solo, and this may be the last opportunity I have to take an extended trip like this for quite a while.

Because of that, part of me wants to use this chance to visit places I might not otherwise prioritize—destinations that require more time to appreciate, aren't ideal for a typical 2-week holiday, or might be harder to convince a future partner to visit.

I've already traveled fairly extensively through Latin America, Europe, and Africa, so Asia feels like the obvious choice. I'm very open to suggestions, but here are a few ideas I've been considering:

  • 2 weeks in Japan, 3 weeks in Vietnam, and either 2 weeks in Indonesia (at the end of the trip) or 2 weeks in Kyrgyzstan (at the beginning).
  • A deep dive into India. It seems like a high-risk, high-reward destination that could be incredibly rewarding. I could also combine it with another nearby country.
  • A trip centered around China.
  • Iraq also interests me, although I'm unsure whether it's currently a sensible destination from a safety perspective.

I'm open to any ideas, including places I haven't mentioned. If you had 7 weeks for a once-in-a-lifetime solo trip, where would you go and why?

Thanks in advance!

California for Mom/Daughter Trip!

I am taking my 16-year-old daughter on a trip in August. She loves California and we have been many times. She prefers Los Angeles and surrounding areas, but I am open to other places. In the past, we have split our trip and spent several days on the beach (Santa Monica, Malibu), and several days in LA (mainly West Hollywood). While I don't mind repeating this trip, I am looking for ways to branch out.

She is very mature and a seasoned traveler. What she loves to do: beaches, driving the coast, vintage shopping/thrifting, access to amazing gluten free food, crafting workshops, landmarks to take pictures for social media :), and anything having to do with the film industry, makeup/special effects.

Thank you!

Planning to add Kennedy Space Centre Florida in my travel itinerary

I'm planning to add Kennedy space centre to my list and needed some opinion.

I think it'll be cool to see an actual launch centre, but is it actually worth it? I'm not planning on seeing too many places during the trip because I don't want it to feel rushed and I want a mix of both fast-paced, fun attractions and slow attractions where I can take my time and walk around.

Here's what I wanna know.

How long will I have to plan if I decide to add the space centre in my itinerary? Is it more fun to walk around alone or will kids also be able to have fun there? I also need tips for getting a good price. I want to save as much as possible while still having fun, so is there any tips for getting any discounts?

Any other suggestions are welcome. I want to make sure everything goes well.

Mild anxiety with travelling to an unfamiliar culture

It may seem silly because when it comes to travelling, isn't the excitement supposed to be bigger than the anxiety? Unfortunately, I feel the anxiety overshadows the excitement when I'm travelling to somewhere where I don't speak the language of. I fear being "cringey" or being seen to be trying too hard in an effort to respect the culture - I think of how people say when tourists attempt to speak French in Paris, they'd speak English back, which to me, that means they think it's embarrassing or annoying.

Another thing I fear is not understanding the culture and disrespecting the locals unintentionally. I learned a bit of a language in university with which I could communicate basic needs. Also worth mentioning that my home culture is similar to this place. However, I still managed to, or at least feel like I had, offend the restaurant staff. In the grand scheme of things, it really is not that bad. I am fully confident the restaurant staff simply thought I was a foreigner and did not know certain customs. But these experiences end up lingering with me and now causing some anxiety as I prepare for my next trip to somewhere where both culture and language are unfamiliar.

I would love to hear your thoughts on this if any of you have any to share. TIA

Free/cheap things to do in Sydney for 2 weeks as a student

Landing in Sydney next week and I have roughly 2 weeks before orientation & classes start. Need recommendations from locals or others for places to visit, and eat since I'll be a student on a budget and I don't want to go broke before uni even starts lol.

I've seen a few recommendations on instagram, but does anyone have any itinerary or plans that could help me?

Fyi, I've already done the ferry from circular quay to manly beach, and those tourist bus tours when I visited as a tourist so now I'd like to do more interesting stuff and find hidden gems if possible while still saving money :D

Would you recommend a Solo trip to Srilanka or these group trips with operators like Wanderon etc.?

Hey guys, I have been trying to plan a trip however when I explored easy to travel options there is some or the other problem with those few countries during that period.

Vietnam - There is a typhoon warning end of august
Georgia - Tickets are unnecessary expensive from Bangalore
Europe - Too short a notice plus I thought I would rather visit that in October for northern lights
Spiti - I had this in mind however approach roads during monsoon in Himachal are not the best route

The only convenient option that I see is Srilanka for 8-9 days. Flights are reasonable as well.

So my questions are -

  1. Do you have any other option in mind?
  2. Any group travel company that you would recommend for Srilanka?

PS - I am a very chilled out person so adaptability is not a problem. However I prefer having my own space at times so as to wander alone but at the same time would prefer a company at certain times.

I have been to a few group trips to places like Ladakh and Nagaland - LOVED IT!

Ofcourse I was lucky to have an awesome group however I am not sure if international trips would also be as much fun with a group operator considering they have to cover a lot of things in such a short time that too with taking everyone along.

How does this Itinerary look and does it work with the rush of Golden Week in China? What are your opinions?

Hi, my bf and I will be travelling from Toronto to Beijing and ending our trip in Hong Kong. I asked ChatGPT to help create an itinerary with all the destinations I would like to visit to compare with my bf’s list of where he would like to visit. I’m quite concerned about travelling from Wuhan to Chengdu and then to Chongqing during Golden Week.

Here is the itinerary, nothing is set in stone yet.

NORTH CHINA
| Beijing | Sept 22 – Sept 27 |
| Xi’an | Sept 27 – Sept 29 |
| Wuhan | Sept 29 – Oct 1 |

WEST CHINA + YUNNAN
| Chengdu | Oct 1 – Oct 4 |
| Chongqing | Oct 4 – Oct 7 |
| Dali | Oct 7 – Oct 10 |
| Kunming | Oct 10 – Oct 13 |

HUNAN REGION
| Zhangjiajie | Oct 13 – Oct 17 | ~ possible day trip to Enshi
| Furong Ancient Town | Oct 17 – Oct 20 |
| Fenghuang | Oct 20 – Oct 23 |
| Changsha | Oct 23 – Oct 26 |

EAST CHINA
| Shanghai | Oct 26 – Oct 31 | ~ possible day trips to Suzhou & Hangzhou

SOUTH CHINA
| Guangzhou | Oct 31 – Nov 3 |
| Shenzhen | Nov 3 – Nov 6 |

FINAL STOP
| Hong Kong | Nov 6 – Nov 11 | ~ possible day trip Macau

Don't fill your suitcase with gifts if you don't have to

One piece of advice I could give anyone traveling to visit family or friends abroad is not to feel like you have to pack every gift in your luggage.

I have made that mistake before less space for my own things, worrying about fragile items and even paying extra baggage fees. It adds unnecessary stress to the trip.

A better option I have found is Gift Baskets Overseas, they help in arranging for gifts to be delivered locally in the country you are visiting. That way, you can still surprise the people you are visiting without carrying everything through airports or dealing with customs.

It definitely made my trips feel lighter and more enjoyable. Does anyone else do this, or do you still prefer bringing gifts with you?

27F looking for ideas to start traveling more and not over spend

27F in Georgia. I am started to learn travel hacks as I get older, but I want to know more. #askreddit #travelhacks

-when you are landing on a flight, process a 20-minute delivery guarantee to earn 2,500 bonus skymiles if they are late.

-use tickpick to look for cheap last minute tickets online

-fly delta one when international (I never even knew what this was)

-open credit cards and put your rent/mortgage on it to reach the spending amount to gain bonus points

-I just opened a prime visa and it’s chase, the points are adding up. I heard I can transfer chase points.

I’m expecting to maybe get engaged within the next year, and I want to find an infinity pool great view private honeymoon room somewhere wonderful. I’ve only been to the Caribbean, South American, and Florida beaches of course. Mexico is not really somewhere I fancy to go

First Europe Trip After Graduation — Best Budget Route After Rome? (~$1.5k ground budget)

Planning a first Europe trip with a group of friends (5 give or take) right after we graduate next spring, and trying to figure out how to keep it affordable and pick the best route after Rome.

We’re starting with ~4 days in Rome (Colosseum, Vatican, Trevi, etc.), staying in a budget hostel near Termini and relying mostly on walking/buses and cheap food.

After that, the rough plan is to head north:
Rome → Florence → Dolomites → Austria → Munich (fly out)

But nothing is locked in — we’ve also talked about Cinque Terre and other spots in Italy. Main goal is to find a route that:

  • stays cheap (target ~$1.5k per person excluding flights, ~$2.2k total with airfare)
  • has great scenery and “first-time Europe” highlights
  • is easy to get around (train/bus friendly)
  • has solid budget hostels + food
  • ends in a good city to fly home from (Munich is current idea)

Would love advice on:

  1. Cheapest way to get between cities (rail passes vs booking individually vs buses)
  2. Best stops between Rome and Munich (or completely different routes worth considering)
  3. Places that are especially good for students/young travelers on a budget
  4. Whether we should stick mostly to Italy or branch into Austria/Germany

Appreciate any tips from people who’ve done similar trips!
