Has hunting got harder?

I've had this game for a few years but only recently got back into it (it's currently 3am, if that's any indication into how much it's sucked me back in!), I have over 100 hours in this game but between the last time I played it and now, there have been a lot of changes and I'm loving rediscovering everything.

However.

Is it just me getting slow with my reflexes in old age, or is hunting way harder than it used to be? Back in the day I was traumatising Bambis all over the forest, but now I can't for the life of me take down a deer. Rabbits, foxes, badgers, ducks: no problem. But deer? No bucking chance.

I'm playing on normal difficulty, but the deer make it seem otherwise. Did something change?

Offered a job without having an interview - red flag?

So I'm currently looking for a job (I'm in a small city in Spain) I've been applying consistently for about 3 weeks since my last job ended. As we all know, the job market right now is pretty terrible and each job listing gets hundreds of applicants, and I rarely if ever get a reply - not even a rejection message.

Two days ago a job popped up on Job Today for a store manager position at a place about 5 minutes from my house. Yesterday they messaged me asking if I had relevant experience and I said yes, and they told me that I was in their list of potential candidates.

Today they messaged me asking if I could start next Tuesday. They haven't met me in person, or even called me, and when I replied saying I need to know more about the position, wages, schedule, etc. they said they'd give me a call "sometime this weekend".

I feel like this is a red flag, right? I'm English but speak Spanish, but they haven't even called to verify that I can speak the language. For all they know I could be using a translator to message them. Their eagerness to hire me sight unseen makes me feel uneasy and like they're either incredibly desperate, or something is wrong with the job.

Is this a red flag?

New job changed schedule completely so I immediately quit

Two and a half weeks ago I started a new job as a receptionist at a hotel. Before this I was working as a salesperson in a shop here in the city I live in, but I (and everyone I worked with) was desperately looking for a new job because the boss was in his own little world and doing so many illegal things like not allowing us to take breaks during 8 hour shifts, changing the schedule at least 3 times a week, scheduling people for 10 days straight, charging employees for products broken by his delivery guys, etc. It was bad enough that I accepted a pay cut at this new job just to get out of it. (The guy had lost so many employees over the 3 months I was there, and received multiple inspections and hefty fines but the bullshit continued).

In my interview at the hotel, before I was even offered the job, I was upfront about my issues with my previous workplace and my expectations about schedule stability and legalities. I was assured repeatedly that the schedule at this place was set and rarely, if ever, changed. Perhaps a day here or there in extenuating circumstances, but I could rest assured that my schedule would be consistent enough to make plans without them being ruined, and I would never work more than 8 days in a row. Great.

Well, during my first week a couple of days got changed, but I accepted it was just the logistics of getting me trained up and eventually flying solo. That's fine. But then this week happened...

I was supposed to be off Wednesday and Thursday, but Monday morning I wake up to a message telling me "Don't come in today. You're off today and tomorrow and back in on Wednesday, instead." So, Wednesday plans went out the window, my fault for trying to have a life, I guess. But I still accepted it.

I asked for the modified schedule so I could see exactly when I was working and when my next days off would be (my schedule was always supposed to be: 7 days working - 2 off - 8 days working - 4 off) and I was told I'd receive it within the hour. By Tuesday morning they still hadn't sent it, so I asked again. I was told I'd receive it "momentarily". Another hour passed. I asked again.

Instead of sending me the schedule, they ask "your four days off that are coming up....have you made plans?" I said yes, as they actually fall right before my birthday, so I'd planned to go and stay with my family for all 4 days to celebrate. Then they tell me "well, you either have to cancel your plans and give up two of those days, or take the 4 days off but then work TWELVE days straight". I couldn't believe the audacity. Not even three weeks in and they're pulling this crap.

I told them to go ahead and remove two of the days, and that's when they sent me the revised schedule, they had me in for the next 9 days, then two days off, then another 10 days and two days off. They'd also removed my morning shift on a day they'd scheduled a mandatory training course in the morning, so I'd have to attend it for a few hours FOR FREE, followed by an 8 hour shift.

5 minutes later I emailed the director my resignation letter stating that I felt the company wasn't a good fit for me as the last-minute schedule changes did not reflect the conditions that were discussed during the interview. He replied with "I have no words...fine."

I stayed 3 months at the previous job and learnt my lesson. From now on I will ALWAYS jump ship the moment the red flags start waving, and I won't be made to feel guilty for it.

PZ2 announcement really proves you will never please everyone

I, like all of you, have been reading endlessly about PZ2 since the trailer was released. I watched the countdown on YouTube and had live comments on, and the hype was real. The trailer blew me away, the fact that they've given us aviaries AND aquariums shows how much they've listened to the community, and yet...so many people are complaining, asking for more, or just being downright ungrateful.

After the trailer I saw so many live comments saying "is that it?", "that sucked", "not buying" etc. Sure, some were most definitely trolls, but in the discussions since there are so many people already acting as if the game isn't enough, as if the Devs owe us more, complaining that they should "just update PZ1 instead". It's utterly ridiculous.

Obviously you can never please everyone, but my god, some people are so ungrateful. We're lucky that we live in a world where Devs can interact with the community and take opinions on board to create a game with all of the features people want. They don't owe us anything, but they've obviously listened and have put a lot of work into creating a game (almost) everyone will love.

If you're mad that PZ2 exists, stick to PZ1. More virtual PZ2 animals for the rest of us. Rant over.
