Hey all! I’ve commented a couple times in this sub about how I design zoos/zoo habitats as a career, and a lot of people seem to take interest in replies!

I figured, with the new game coming out, I’m sure some people may have some questions regarding zoo design for their own zoos. So have at it! I’d love to start a conversation!

(As a note: I will not be sharing where I work, what university I went to, or any info that may break an NDA. Everything else is free game!)

I know it’s only about two days before Planet Zoo 2 releases, and even if a change happens, it will probably happen after launch. But I need to talk about this, because it’s been on my mind for almost two months. I was patiently hoping that some kind of change would happen, like it did for the boa constrictor or the giant grouper. Unfortunately, nothing happened, so I decided it was time to speak up.

In my eyes, the Indo-Pacific sergeant (Abudefduf vaigiensis) is an animal that REALLY needs cosmetic changes. The texture is grainy and pixelated, the colors are dull, blurry, and lifeless, and the fins are ripped and spiky, giving the whole animal the look of a lifeless, decomposing corpse. I know a lot of people don’t care about schooling fish as much as they care about some of the larger habitat species, and I understand that they are basically background actors compared to main stars like sea turtles and manatees. But I care about them, and I wish this fish could be represented as at least a tiny bit more “alive.”

I really hope we can make some "noise" and get Frontier to hear us small-fish lovers.
If not, at least we’ll get the perfect species for a Halloween-themed aquarium ;)

I saw a landscape and zoo architect post earlier and figured I would do the same. With planet zoo 2 coming out soon the hype is real. I work as a wildlife biologist and I wanted to give people the opportunity to ask questions as well!! Happy zoo/sanctuary building!

I’ve been seeing a few of these posts recently and wanted to do one of my own. I have a level 2 technical certificate in animal care and am currently studying T-level animal management and behaviour. I have also work in zoo and shop settings, primarily with herpetiles and invertebrates, aswell as working with domestic farm species. Finally finished my ZOO I’ve been working on for nearly 5 months just before the release of Planet Zoo 2. It is now available in the Steam Workshop.

I live in New Mexico. Apparently the gemsbok is invasive here. When I clicked the link, the first sourced image was from PZ2!! The photorealism of the gemsbok model is awesome, I cannot wait for this game to come out.
