DLC Concept Packs Part Four: Mini and Vivarium Packs + Full DLC Roster

I have made a number of hypothetical DLCs based on time period, geological formations and other themes, and wanted to share them here. These are completely fan-made, though it would be really cool if the devs decided they liked any of these. Today is the final installment, Part Four: Mini and Vivarium Packs.

I've also included the full roster of all 4 parts at the end. I hope you enjoyed this series and encourage you to make your own! Thanks to everyone who helped shape these by adding species suggestions and input on the Discord!

Some rules and disclosures:

  • Utahraptor, Ceratosaurus, Carnotaurus, Glyptodon, Doedicurus, Amphicyon, Kelenken, Deinosuchus, Ambulocetus, Meganeura, Arthropleura, and Lepdictidium are all assumed species to be added before or after 1.0
  • Every DLC pack must follow a specific ruleset and pattern based on the Community Survey and expected Recently Extinct Species Pack
    • Standard: 6 new genera or species +1 alt genus or species, 2 vivarium species
    • Mini Pack: 4 new genera or species (though occasionally there may be shared where it makes sense thematically), 1 vivarium species
    • Vivarium Pack: 5 new vivarium species
  • A lot of these themes and selections are interchangeable, so while I might have something in a Late Cretaceous Pack, the devs might decide to put in a Hell Creek Pack etc.

Please let me know your thoughts - what you like and what you think could be improved! I wanted to do this to show off what I think the optimal DLC formats are in terms of content received - hopefully the devs see there is high demand beyond just 4-5 new species per pack.

  1. Paleozoic and Mesozoic Epochs
  2. Cenozoic Epochs
  3. Themed Standard Packs
  4. Mini and Vivarium Packs

Planet Zoo 2 ESRB reveals 2 spoilers for the game

I haven’t seen this mentioned here yet but it’s been talked about on Discord.

This confirms two things:

- Peeing mechanics

- African painted/wild dogs returning

If you lost power, has it come back on for you yet?

Dukes map is next to useless and hasn’t changed for hours, no power since 3:45 downtown.

Anyone else had better luck? I can’t find an ETA anywhere

Eocene Species Pack Concept

Previously I made this Oligocene Species Pack Concept before the potential DLC formats were revealed in the Community Poll. I was already working on this concept and wanted to post it before revisiting my Oligocene Concept.

I've seen some others do Permian etc. but I my take my own stab at those as well

Hypothetical DLC in B&B style + What I predicted B&B to be last fall

This would mean

  • China
  • India
  • Rome/Italy
  • Greece
  • Germany
  • France
  • Korea
  • Japan
  • Gaelic/Celtic

cultural paths would all be complete, allowing for a continuous 3-era playthrough where you evolve within your own culture. I wouldn't count the New World, Latin-cultures completed with Mexica and Gran Colombia but it would be a good start

Oligocene DLC Concept

  • Chalicotherium goldfussi
  • Daeodon shoshonensis
  • Hyaenodon horridus
  • Mesohippus barbouri
  • Arsinoitherium zitteli
  • Enaliarctos mealsi
  • Kairuku grebneffi
  • Palaeocastor peninsulatus (Vivarium)

Seeing as this will likely be a near-totally unexplored period (except the Paraceratherium species) I figure there is a good chance of seeing a DLC that focuses on expanding that and giving Paraceratherium so themed friends to display in a dedicated Oligocene section

Argentina just showed us the difference between winner and loser mentality

Argentina was down nearly the entire match, didn't panic and scored 3 goals in succession. Yes I know they have Messi, but no one on the field gave up. Our guys weren't ready to play from the first whistle yesterday and completely gave up in the second half. It's not just a talent issue, we don't have fighters on the roster.

Firaxis Historian Q/A TLDR

These stood out to me as the two biggest items: one being we will not get a generic ‘Celts’ or ‘Bantu’ civ but may very well get Civs in that cultural family

And two, Modern Age is definitely coming

Moving to Denver this fall, where should I eat first from this list?

I have made this masterlist based on recommendations from people I know who already live there, Google, social media and this sub, which had a significant influence. If you feel strongly I should remove something or add something, please let me know. I'm not picky and like all cuisines, however I will say my favorites are Italian, Mexican, Mediterranean/Levantine/Turkish.

Zoo/Reserve icon theory from gameplay trailer

Theory: The circles with corresponding icons on the white outlines (bubbles for Aquatic, clouds for Grassland, rocks for Alpine/Taiga/Tundra?) are for the reserves. The squares are all possible zoo locations, and if you've opened a connected Zoo with the FEN then the icon says 'ZOO' and if you haven't it just displays the biome icon

If that is the case, this is showing a tropical zoo in Brazil, a temperate zoo in Austria?, an unopened taiga? zoo in Ukraine, an unopened grassland zoo in Mali?, a desert zoo in Libya and 3 reserves: aquatic in Lake Malawi, grasslands in South Sudan and taiga/alpine in Scotland

With the announcement of Brush and Blade, what are some other ‘historical path’ Civs you want to see added?

We’ve known, or at least speculated, about Heian, Sengoku, Goryeo and Joseon being added to the game for some time now, and with their official announcement it’s prime time to ask what other Civs you think should be added to fill out the 3 Civ historical pathing you can take by not playing as a time-tested Civ through all 3 eras.

Some of the most highly requested (for this purpose) from the community survey I did at the start of the year include:

- Gaul/other Celtic civ

- Goths

- Nazca

- Aztecs/Mexica

- Byzantine Empire

- Holy Roman Empire

- Argentina

- Austria-Hungary

- Brazil
