Not happy with how they conduct business

Why is it impossible to sign up for Freedom mobile service online when you’re a new customer? I tried to do so because I am on a strict budget and signing up online would allow me to avoid the $45 fee. But you have to register online before signing up. And that wasn’t possible.

Not happy. ☹️

Got a request for location sharing

I’ve never received a request like this before. Maybe I don’t fully understand the meaning behind it but why would I want to share with anyone outside of my immediate family?

Can anyone enlighten me more on this feature?

I currently reside in Langley but I’ll be moving within the year. Where? That depends on what job I get. Possibly anywhere including and west/southwest of New Westminster.

I just discovered Fizz today but there seem to be wildly differing opinions for it.

Previously I looked into Freedom. I also looked at a prepaid plan with Koodo since I’m a commitment-phobe and the idea of having a plan for 2 years (or whatever the average is) makes me nervous. 😁

I’m really averse to giving my money to any of the big 3 and yes I know Koodo is part of Telus which is why I’m reluctant to go that route.

What I want to have is unlimited calls/texts within Canada, unlimited texts to USA, and some form of roaming in the USA. I don’t plan on going there much but I want the option. As for data, I don’t use much so that is actually a lower priority. I use WiFi at home or anywhere it’s provided.

Thoughts? Advice?

Thanks in advance!

So I have Roger’s together with Shaw. Late last year I wanted to contact the US consulate in Vancouver regarding some issues with SSA. I got “We’re sorry, this site is currently experiencing technical difficulties. Please try again in a few moments. Exception: forbidden” It’s been that way for months. Today I tried accessing the site via VPN and guess what? I was able to access their website. That tells me they’ve blocked Rogers together with Shaw.

Just another quality service from Rogers. /s

After perusing various subs I have questions!

I’m researching what my options are for Internet and TV so when my contract with rogers expires early next year I’ll know where to go. Based on what I’ve read, Telus doesn’t seem to be a good option. I’d like Internet and TV bundled.

I’m a total noob when it comes to what’s available so please bear with me if any questions or comments I make seem obvious or silly.

INTERNET

WiFi is a must and I need to make WiFi calling with my cell. (Yes I know that’s something my cell provider needs to offer but I’d like WiFi to be solid and stable.)

TV

I just discovered the existence of IPTV but I have concerns. Streaming is something I don’t fully understand and it seems limited in what channels are offered.

Novus sounds good but it isn’t offered where I live. And when I move later this year (I currently rent) it may be to a house not a condo or apartment building.

Aside from various channels I want there are things I don’t really need.

- don’t need sports channels

- rarely watch movies so they aren’t a necessity

- rarely watch news but would like Canadian and British news channels for large events like Artemis II, otherwise I don’t watch news.

I’d like access to CBC Gem, PlutoTV, Tubi and YouTube. Yes I know the latter I can access on mobile devices but I like watching it on my TV.

Another wish is BBC, maybe BritBox but BBC for sure. I also watch CHEK TV so that is on my list as well.

Aside from the more mainstream TV channels (network TV channels like CBC, National Geographic, T&N, History, HGTV, etc.) I do like some less common channels like MeTV and Vision. (The latter I only watch for the British TV show Father Brown so if I have access to BBC, I won’t need Vision.) Also W, Lifetime and Slice.

I have 2 TV’s. One is a smart tv (Samsung) and the other I’m not sure about. It’s a Sony Bravia that is at least 12 years old.

I hope I’ve clarified what I’m looking for and I appreciate any help you can give! Thanks!
