I've taken all the clubs that have

a) appeared in the football league

b) are still in existence in their original form or only undergone a name change

and ive ranked them by years since their last positive achievement. The achievements being Cup wins, League wins and Promotions down to and including the national league north/south. Achievements are weighted for prestige for the final ranking.

I havent included club world cup or the continental super cup competitions. Nor have i included the charity shield.

Ive been going spreadsheet blind collating all this data so ive probably made some errors somewhere so if you spot any, feel free to point them out.

EDIT: i have only counted down to the 6th tier of the pyramid. There are about 500 clubs at level 8/9 and i dont have the patience to add all that data into my spreadsheet.

Sutton United - 37th

Yeovil Town - 65th

Torquay United - 27th

I think the missing teams comes from my list of all clubs who have played in the football league but are still intact. Anybody not on this list is excluded from the final data. My full data goes riught down to national league north and south, fa cup trophy and vase. I found that including those just bloated the final table though
