How do you get your baby to not cry when placed down?

Hi Reddit!

First time mom of a (now) 3 month old baby. He is so sweetest and cutest little star!

The issue I am having is that he does NOT like to be put down. Not for a second. It prevents me from being able to do anything all day… from using the bathroom to household chores.

Is this normal? I feel like I watch my friends put their babies down for naps and tummy time with ease.

I’m so very willing to hold my sweet baby, but I also want to be able to use the bathroom or let him nap without causing him stress/crying.

Any advice would be so helpful.

Thank you in advance ♥️

Low Hot Water Pressure and Quote is Devastating

Looking for some professional advice because I'm honestly in a bit of shock.

I've been dealing with very low hot water pressure throughout my house. Cold water pressure seems normal, but the hot water is significantly weaker.

I had a plumber come out, and after looking everything over, I was quoted around $11,000 to fix the issue.
Before I make any decisions, I wanted to ask the professionals here:

- Does an $11,000 quote for a hot water pressure issue sound reasonable, or is that unusually high?

- What are the most common causes of low hot water pressure throughout an entire house?

- Are there situations where a full repipe is truly the only solution, or are there other things that should be ruled out first?

- If you were in my position, would you absolutely get multiple opinions?

I'm not trying to question anyone's expertise, it’s just $11,000 is a life-changing amount of money for me.

Thank you in advance for any advice.

EDIT:

I thank everyone for the comments so far. I hope you can understand when I say that I didn’t know the details needed to offer any assistance on this post. My only parent has just passed away and was the only one who knew all of this stuff. I’m new to this and honestly am just desperate for help and patience on this.

Here are the exact details from the quote:

- Protect finished floors (as needed) with sheet plastic and canvas drop cloths.
- Shut off water to the home at the lower 1" water meter valve.
- Remove the 3/4" threaded brass pipe (with the caped saddle fitting) that is between the water meter horn and the upper
meter valve.
- Install a new (upper) 3/4” IPS (NIBCO brand) ball valve and a 3/4"x6" threaded brass pipe above the existing water meter
setting (3/4" FIP meter swivel).
- Plumb a 3/4" type-M copper vertical riser up to the basement ceiling joist space and transition to 3/4” PEX on the
horizontal.
- Reinstall the existing copper "bridge wire" and brass grounding clamps around the existing water meter setting.

Note: The existing electrical panel does not have a bonding wire from the water meter to the electrical panel. Advise that the owners consult with a licensed electrician to have a code compliant bonding wire installed (at additional cost) from the electrical panel to the water meter. This will need to be done before plumbing work begins.

- Remove and recycle all galvanized steel water piping, within the basement level and up to the first-floor full bathroom.
Water pipes in the bathroom "wet wall" will be abandoned in place.
- New water piping will be a majority of type-A expansion PEX with a minority of type-M copper, where rigidity is needed.
- Hose-bib (Side): Furnish and install a new 12" Arrowhead frost free hose-bib (w. inline vacuum breaker) along with a 1/2”
inside service valve (in the existing position in the exterior wall) along with a new 1/2" PEX cold water supply branch.
- No humidifier, currently.
- No ice maker, currently.
- Plumb a new 3/4" cold water PEX main from the water meter to the "water heater tee"
- Two to four (14"x14") openings will need to be made in the basement ceiling (tongue and groove boards) to remove the old water pipe and properly support the new water pipe every 32"

Note: Basement ceiling patch will be done by others at additional labor/material expense.

- Connect to the existing 40-gallon gas water heater (made in 2002) with new 3/4” hot/cold die-electric unions, new 3/4"
hot/cold ball valves and 3/4" copper risers up to the ceiling.
- Plumb new 1/2" hot/cold water piping to serve the existing kitchen sink faucet (no dishwasher) along with new fixture
valves and connection to the existing faucet.
- Abandon the existing 1/2-bath galvanized water pipes in the wall, serving the toilet and sink. Remove the stub pipes and
seal the wall openings flush with white caulk.
- Plumb a new 1/2" cold water pipe riser (through a new cored hole in the LVP floor) to the full-bath toilet along with a new
fixture valve and supply tube.
- Plumb new 1/2" hot/cold PEX water pipe risers (through the cabinet base) to the existing full-bath lavatory faucet along
with a new fixture valves and supply tubes.

Note: Due to recent poor pressure from rust flake issues, there is a high likelihood that debris is stuck inside the two-handle tub/shower valve, where the hot/cold bridge together. This part of the valve has a very small path of flow and has proven to have a history of problems for other customers. For this reason, our proposal includes conversion of the tub/shower valve as
described below.

- Convert the existing two-handle tub/shower valve to a modern single-handle pressure balanced valve.
- Core a new 2.5" central hole. Furnish and install a new Moen 2520 "posi-temp" single-handle tub/shower valve with a
copper shower head pipe riser and copper tub-spout piping. The valve and piping will be fastened to the existing "thin-
construction" (2-layers of 3/4" boards with a white plastic surround kit) wall structure.
- Furnish and install a Moen TL2369EP (elongated oval trim-plate) Chateau tub/shower trim kit (polished chrome).
- Furnish/install a new 49-530 Gerber laundry faucet, and in-line vacuum breaker on the existing concrete laundry tub.
- Plumb new hot/cold washing machine connections with new 1/2” valves (1/4-turn), in-line hammer arrestors, and 72”
braided stainless hoses.
- Plumb new 1/2" hot/cold PEX water pipes to serve the basement laundry tub and washing machine.
- Plumbing permit will be pulled.

This is everything listed in the quote. If it’s important to know, I already paid someone to replace all the hardware on the showers and sinks but that did nothing.

Thanks Again.

A World Without Mom

Good Evening,

I found myself today wishing for my mother to be here, just as I do everyday. But today reminds me of the cold truth that I have to figure out life and its lessons all alone.

I wrote this for whoever needs to hear it today. That you are not alone in this feeling and journey. The loneliness is all too familiar.

A WORLD WITHOUT MOM by Me

The world still turns, the skies are blue,
Yet nothing feels the way it used to.
For when I lost my dearest friend,
I lost the place where fears would end.

You weren't just my mom… you were my guide,
The steady hand right by my side.
The voice that calmed my anxious mind,
The truest love I'll ever find.

When life was hard, I'd call your name,
And somehow nothing felt the same.
You always knew just what to say,
To chase the darkest clouds away.

Now every question fills my head,
But all my answers went with you instead.
Who do I call when hope feels thin?
Who helps me find my strength within?

The world feels far too wide today,
A lonely child who's lost her way.
No hand to hold, no light to see,
Just endless roads in front of me.

No safety blanket wrapped around
To soften every fearful sound.
No gentle voice, no warm embrace,
No smile that made the world a place.

They tell me time will ease the pain,
That joy will someday bloom again.
But time can't give what it has taken,
Or mend a heart that's left forsaken.

Because a daughter, old or small,
Still needs her mother through it all.
And though the years may slowly flow,
There is one truth I'll always know…

If love alone could conquer death,
You'd still be here with every breath.
So now I carry all you've been,
Your faithful heart still lives within.

But oh, I'd trade the world today,
To hear you softly, gently say,
"My darling girl, come sit with me...
We'll figure it out, just you and me."

The Girl Before…

I find myself awake at midnight in the depths of grief… and I feel called to write a poem. I hope this helps anyone who needs validation of the pain of a daughter losing a mother.

Love you Mom. Always and Forever.

THE GIRL BEFORE by Me.

There was a girl I used to know,
though now she feels so far away.
She lived beneath a gentler sky
before grief stole her light away.

She laughed without a second thought,
she dreamed of all that life could be.
She never knew how one goodbye
would change her whole identity.

She still could call her mother's name
and hear the comfort in your voice.
She thought that "later" stretched for years,
that love would always leave a choice.

Now when I close my weary eyes,
I search for who I used to be.
I find a face I recognize,
yet she's a stranger now to me.

The world still turns, the sun still shines,
the seasons bloom, then fade once more.
But nothing feels the way it did
my heart still waits behind that door.

They say that time can soften grief,
that healing comes with passing years.
But time has only taught me this:
love simply learns to wear its tears.

Sometimes I hear familiar words
*"Goodbye may seem forever..."* still.
They pierce my soul with quiet truth
and bend my heart against my will.

For yes, goodbye can feel like death,
like every dream has reached its end.
Yet in my heart you still remain,
my mother first, my dearest friend.

Your memory walks beside my own
in every path I wander through.
But grief took more than only you
it took the girl who once knew you.

So if one day we meet again,
beyond where time and sorrow cease,
I hope you'll know me by my heart,
though life has changed my soul's release.

Until that day, I'll carry both
the love we shared, the pain I see.
I'll always mourn my precious mom...
and the girl I used to be.

Hi All,

Remember those outlet mini-stores that sold discounted hostess, little Debbie, etc? That’s the kind of store I am looking for.

Anywhere between the Milwaukee and Waukesha would be preferred but I’m open to suggestions as well!

Thank you in advance!
