One thing I appreciate about this subreddit

Sometimes I'll see someone in the comments expressing anger towards dogs, even calling them things like "worthless pieces of shit" which I completely understand. Even if you don't mean everything you're saying, sometimes you just need to get the feelings off your chest.

One thing I almost NEVER see are people responding to comments like that saying "This is a very distrubing reaction to-", "I think you need help", or some other lecture about how what you're saying is "immature" or "too much".

Lately I've been so sick of redditor culture and this idea that you have to have this squeaky-clean performance of level-headedness just to be taken seriously.

Whenever I rant about literally anything that bothers me, no matter how much sense I'm making, I still get the lectures. Woah dude you don't have to say CUSSWORDS! Showing genuine anger? That's baaaad

But not here. On this subreddit, you can actually express your anger (towards dogs) in a way that feels natural to you without having to worry about the hivemind pretending theres something fundamentally wrong with your character.

Also shoutout to the mods. I know they're working their asses off the keep the grating noise of tone policing and morality larping down to a minimum. I'm grateful yall have cultivated a space to express our annoyance toward nutters and their four-legged affronts to the concept of hygiene. So thank you

any smartypants larpers?

I'm making this post out of pure curiosity, cause from my experience, this subreddit is something else man. I remember when me and my buddies would get high and do dramatic readings of threads and comments we'd see here.

I'm curious if it's the same way, or if it's become more self aware over the years. I haven't been here since I was like 13. How are you guys? Are you taking any of what I'm saying personal, or do you see the humor in it?

Also I have a story I wanna share:

One time I was browsing this subreddit, this had to be about ten years ago but there was this thread; "are you able to tell when people are lying?" and of course eeeevery single person in the comments are like "YUP 100% cause I'm an intellectual badass". Everyone said it with varying levels of larp, exaggeration, and corniness.

But one comment stood above the rest,

This dude began describing his "split-second" process of determining how honest the person in front if him was being, and at some point he uses the term "internal equations".

Internal equations.

Boy did everyone like that, and I gotta give him props for creativity. Next thing you know EVERYBODY is being original by repeating the term "internal equations" in their responses to that comment (mostly how "relatable" it was, but no original input of their own). Finally, I see someone say something like "can you please take off your fucking fedora man. 'internal equations' my ass"

That guy gets downvoted, but in that moment, little 13 year old me was his biggest fan. I loved the way he unapologetically dismantled that attempt at larping, interrupting the noise of performative wisdom and clarity.

Even when he argued well, they said "well you didn't have to use cusswords and insults!"

Ironically, the nerds who claimed to have unique insight denied insight into how their words could come off to other people. They had no interest in seeing the honest reactions of anyone, they were too preoccupied with their perpetual competition to prove they were the most stoic and mature.

So my question for you is, would you admit today that Mr. "take off your fucking fedora" had a point?

A type of personality I don't see often these days

So I'm not sure if anyone relates or will know what I'm talking about, but I used to occasionally meet a certain type of person (usually online) who would make me laugh a LOT. They would be kinda jaded and snarky in a way that wasn't forced, and everything they said was at least sortof insightful or interesting. The way they'd made fun of things had this biting truth to it that I'd always think about but never have the words for, and even if they got a little serious it'd never go into melodrama territory.

In group settings, most people would kinda suck up to or want to impress them in some way, and while it could get a little annoying, there was something weirdly cathartic about interacting with them, or even just reading/hearing the things they'd say.

Does anyone else want an outlet for their fucked up side?

At the risk of sounding like and edgelord, I wish I had a corner of the internet where everyone could speak without restrictions. For example, I want to cuss people out while bantering with them, say fucked up jokes without having to ignore moral policing in the replies, say how I really feel without getting bot messages "encouraging me to seek professional help", etc.

Yes I'm aware there's websites like 4chan but I don't really like the layout, and the discussion there is just as boring as anywhere else online, just with more slurs. I made a "social trashcan" discord server but haven't found anyone who wants to join.

I just wish there was somewhere I could go to at least larp as a careless person without having to worry about being taken too seriously or having to scroll past boring lectures about how my thoughts and feelings are bad or whatever. Anyone else relate?

EDIT: A few people have DM'd me asking about the server, so I put some more information on it here:

[TOMT] [show] it's about this kid who vapes a lot and he can turn into a ghost

I remember when he turned into a ghost his hair would be like purple kinda? And he'd just be in the hallway vaping randomly and they'd animate it as like a blue mist coming out of his mouth
