Harley Madison - disturbing

So I skim read sugar baby and good girl, I liked the premise 4 Dom sugar daddy’s etc, but the actual books made me feel really icky.

Does anyone have any recommendations for a book with a similar premise but *no* mention whatsoever of age play, no knives or extreme kinks, just like… a bit more chill(!) it was really honestly a bit disturbing and as my first proper glimpse into reverse harem contents it’s kinda putting me off

I’d like to give it another try with something way less hardcore please send over and recs you might have!

Ketotifen cystitis

Did anyone else get cystitis / bladder irritation when starting ketotifen?

I’ve been trying to ignore it but it’s waking me up in my sleep,

If you had it did it get better? Did you have to stop?

I’d love to hear any experience people have had

Throat tight - ketotofen - how do I know if it’s a reaction or not?

I’m on my third day of taking microscopic doses of ketotofen

The first day my skin super itchy, but I was like, it’s fine, it’s all good, keep going

The second day I was drowsy like I’d taken a first gen anti histamine

And this evening my throat has started getting tight, which could be from something completely unrelated

But how do you tell which thing you’re reacting to?

I’ve got epi pens on stand by just in case it does turn into something but I’m hoping it’s all good

How do you determine what you’re reacting to with certainty when you’re just having teeny tiny amounts?

Fexofenadine

I was a total state on Monday after eating a trigger food, I was anxious, I wanted to not be here any more, I felt like I should cut off friends, I was just a hot mess

I took fexofenadine and like an absolute miracle I felt like myself again, happy, chatty, loving life

Then I took it in the morning Tuesday and felt great all day

The Wednesday by the evening I started feeling itchy and anxious again so I took a second one and it all went away

I took one this morning, and then this evening i suddenly started feeling super anxious, wanting to cut off friendships (its such a weirdly specific response) I’m kinda itchy and a bit mcas-y

I don’t really know if I’m okay taking two a day, but I feel like by the evening I’m starting to need it.

Can fexofenadine become habit forming? I know that sounds ridiculous but I genuinely feel I *need* another dose. Or, is it just that it’s actually controlling my mcas for the first time and as it starts wearing off I get symptomatic again but it feels worse because I’ve had a period of time without it?

Has anyone had this? I’d love to hear other people’s experiences with it

Thanks! X

Mental health / itchy brain

I generally have pretty great mental health, but I sometimes get this feeling like i’m “itchy in my brain” like I need to scratch at my brain.

And then my whole body feels itchy, I say itchy but I don’t usually physically scratch at it it’s just like I’m a bit on edge internally and my skin feels prickly I guess?

Then I feel irritable and like I don’t want to do this any more, I want to cut off friendships, I feel overwhelmed, I don’t want to be here etc

I can sometimes just make myself sleep it off

But today I didn’t take loratadine to see if that was what was adding to my fatigue, and on the upside I feel less fatigued. But on the considerable downside I feel itchy, irritable and a bit not wanting to be here any more-

I hadn’t really connected the emotional states to MCAS but I’m thinking thst was probably a mistake

Does your mcas make you feel irritable, irrational etc?

If it happens to you too, how do you manage it?

Loosing safe foods?

I’ve been more unwell the last few days, especially after eating a chicken curry recipe that is usually safe for me (it’s all home made so there’s no change in the ingredients)

How do you work out when a usually safe food is suddenly not?

I don’t want to cut more stuff out, I’m very grateful for the ingredients I can eat, but it’s already so challenging and I’m so tired.

I wish there was like a magical barcode scanner we could zap ourselves with and know what’s going to be okay and what’s not.

How do you all handle loosing safe foods?

Protein bar recipe?

Does anyone have a good recipe for a protien bar?

I can eat one variety of organic whey protein

But no eggs, no oats, no nuts, no chocolate, no gluten, but I can eat carob(!)

Being able to eat outside the house is a real challenge so it would be great to be able to take something with me, and it would also just be nice to be able to have a protein bar on days when I want to eat something but can’t handle a huge amount

If anyone has a good recipe id be hugely grateful

Acronym guide?

Is there a thread or anywhere I can find out what all the acronyms mean?

I’m new to the genre and the sub and I’m totally lost with all these acronyms but would really love to understand!

Thanks!

Vitamin C

For those people who generally react to vitamin c have you found any types that you’re okay with?

I’d love any recommendations for brands or formulations that people tolerate

I really don’t fancy getting scurvy on top of everything else

Make it make sense

I have my tryptase test this afternoon I had to book it in because I couldn’t just wait until I had a flare up because blood testing doesn’t work like that here.

I’ve just eaten a whole plate of chips and ketchup and mayo, and some chocolate(!) (which was insanely delicious) annnnnnd insanely my body isn’t doing anything, zero reaction😂

How is it even possible, normally I only have to look at something and my lips are swollen and my blood pressure is dropping

It feels like some kind of quantum shit, where if you look at it, it reacts one way and if you don’t it reacts another.

Genuinely wondering if I can just tell myself every day I’m having a tryptase test and then I’ll be cured 🙈

Does anyone else have shrodingers mcas?

Lying about my reactions

Does anyone else pretend their reactions aren’t so bad?

I’ve recently been pretending I don’t react to our new cleaning products because my mum desperately wanted some cleaning stuff that smelled nice, so I searched out the most mild non triggering stuff I can find and truthfully I’m still reacting to it, but I’m just pretending I’m not and telling her it’s great

She’s so happy she can make the house smell nice that I don’t have the heart to tell her. It’s not the worse reaction so I just take more anti histamines

Anyone else pretending not to react to stuff? 🙃

Compressions in the heat

How does everyone handle wearing compressions in the heat? We’re having a heatwave in the uk at the moment and as a country we’re just not really kitted out for heat, our homes don’t generally have AC

Not wearing compressions is absolutely not an option, I’ll be scraping myself off the floor all day, but also wearing compressions is so damn hot.

Has anyone invited magical cooling compressions?

Please tell me how you cope with the heat

Dietician

Has anyone found seeing a dietician helpful?

I’ve been referred to one who specialises in MCAS which is a great start

But I’ve seen several before and never found them particularly helpful. I have a pretty good grasp of nutrition and I’ve been given plenty of dietary advice by other dietetics specialists

I don’t want to be arrogant and dismiss the idea out of hand, but I also don’t want to start something that’s not going to be very helpful

I’d love to hear about anyone’s experiences with this and how it helped / didn’t help them

Many thanks

Tryptase test

Quick question

When having Tryptase testing - my understanding is that I do one test when I’m feeling quite well, and another after I’ve had a reaction?

Did you guy purposefully eat something like knew would trigger a reaction before the test, and if so how do you do it safely so it was enough to trigger a reaction / triptase elevation, but not enough to cause a medical emergency?

Thanks!

I have mcas so my diet is already pretty restricted, but I’ve been getting more symptomatic so I decided to do AIP again because the last time I did I felt so much better.

It’s only been two days and I already have more energy and I feel better and more clear headed.

I guess this means that some of my “safe” food really weren’t that safe after all? But I feel like I’m in danger of being able to eat less and less different foods

Has anyone else found AIP helpful and were you able to reintroduce foods after?
