Lamy 2000 EF Nib??

Hey guys. I’m seriously considering picking up a Lamy 2k, but I’m stuck choosing what nib to grab with it. I’m looking to use it daily, and at the moment, my Pilot VP F lays down the absolute perfect line for any of my note taking.

What nib size on the 2k most resembles a VP fine?? I’ve heard varying opinions about the EF on the lamy being a little dry and scratchy, but also wider than most Japanese fines…? Just not really sure where to go!! Any advice would mean the world!

Thanks guys 🤙

Can’t remove Twsbi Nib

Hey guys. I’m trying to remove my Twsbi nib on my Vac 700r for cleaning and a potential nib swap. I literally cannot get the nib out of the collar though, even with soaking it in warm soap water. Not really sure what to do, but I don’t want to brute force it since the feed is so fragile. Any ideas??

Thanks for the help!!

Asvine v126 w/ Moonman Flex!!

Just received this Moonman flex nib for my Asvine v126! The asvine feed ran a little dry at first when I swapped out the nibs, but after some adjustment and new ink, it writes impressively well for a $2 nib and a $30 pen!

It truly is a great writing experience so far, typically I’m more of a fan of stub nibs (which I swapped out of this one), but this nib really brings out some cool characters!

Unfortunately, my handwriting isn’t good enough to display all this pen can do, but I’m still having fun with the new frankenpen!

Montblanc Pens on eBay??

Hey guys, I’ve been poking around for some used Montblanc pens on eBay recently. When you look at the listings on eBay, take the 146 for an example, there’s like a range of pens like $400+, and then anything under that seems to be like $150 or less.

Are all of the listings under a few hundred dollars pretty much fake? I’ve seen a lot of posts trying to verify Montblanc pens on here, are there any easy tests to see if a pen is real or not from a picture??

Thanks for helping me avoid scams guys 🤙

Lamy Nib Leaking??

Hey guys, I’m relatively new to fountain pens and just grabbed a Lamy Studio in a fine nib a few weeks back. It was writing as expected, and then I swapped to ink to the Sailor Manyo stuff. After that, it started writing significantly wetter than before, closer to a medium, and some ink has started to creep up between the tines and I cannot wipe it off (it just flows back).

Not sure if this is an issue or not, but I just wanted to check and see if anybody else has noticed this, and if there might be an issue with the nib or feed that you guys can pinpoint. Could also just be the ink, it seems particularly wet.

Thanks for the advice!!

Sailor Pro Gear Slim vs. Visconti Mirage Mythos??

Hey guys, I’ve been looking to grab a nice entry-level luxury for my collection. I was pretty focused on grabbing a Visconti Mirage Mythos, but a Pro Gear with a music nib just popped up on auction and it sounds dreamy.

If any of you have owned either one, what was your experience? Which pen has the best writing experience and, most importantly, how is it to write with a music nib??

Thanks for the input guys 🤙

Nibs to swap into a Visconti Mirage Mythos??

Hey guys. I’m looking to pick up a Visconti Mirage Mythos in the next few weeks. To my understanding, it only comes with the standard EF, F, M, and B grinds. Because it’s definitely more of a desk piece, ideally I’d want to cram a stub nib in there that’s a little more expressive to write with.

What nibs can I swap into this pen? I understand it uses a #6 Schmidt housing, is the pen very picky about what nibs will fit into it? Any advice on brands would be amazing!!

Thanks guys 🤙

Why is the Pilot 823 so expensive??

Hey guys. I recently picked up a vanishing point, and after trying out a few other Pilot models, I can safely say that I’m a huge fan of the gold nibs from Pilot.

Of course, I’ve been looking for more Pilots to eventually add to my collection, and the custom 823 seems sort of like THE pen to buy. Still, at $416, I just can’t imagine why it’s priced so much higher than models like the Falcon, custom 742, and e95s which go between $300-$200 or less.

Is it just the piston mechanism adding that extra $150, or is there something else about the pen that I’m missing?

Thanks for the input guys 🤙

PNC Transfer Limits??

Hey guys. I’ve had a FirstBank account for a while, and just had it transitioned to PNC after the acquisition. I frequently move money around between savings and checking accounts for organization, which was never penalized at FirstBank. With PNC though, apparently there’s a 6 transfer per month limit.

Is that a common thing to see in banks? I was kind of shocked to see that I can’t just transfer money around between internal accounts, and slapping fees on top of it seems ridiculous.

Of course, I’d also love to hear your guys’ opinion on PNC as a whole. Is it a good bank to keep your money in?

Thanks for the input guys 🤙

Visconti Mirage Worth It??

Hey guys, been looking at grabbing a Visconti Mirage Mythos Poseidon recently. It’s an incredibly beautiful pen and I love the subtle design elements of the barrel and the cap. Still, with the steel nib and the so-so converter, I’m not sure it’s really worth ~$220 with stuff like the L2K, pilot customs, pelikans, etc. sitting right in that price range.

For any owners, is the writing experience actually worth the money or is it really just the looks that carry the pen? Any experience you guys have would be so awesome!

Thanks guys 🤙

Writing with a Pilot VP??

Hey guys, I got the chance to test out some gold nibs on a few different pilots and older sailors. They were all awesome, and definitely noticeably more springy than the steel nibs I write with currently.

Funny enough, I wasn’t able to try out a vanishing point, which I’m considering heavily as my next one. For any current/past owners, how does the nib write? Is it decently springy like other pilot nibs? Any experience you guys have with the pen would help a bunch!

Thanks guys 🤙

Pilot Falcon vs. Visconti Mirage

Hey guys, looking to step up my pen collection with an entry level luxury. Currently, I’m really focused on the pilot falcon and the Visconti mirage mythos, though they’re pretty different pens to my knowledge. If anybody has owned either, I’d love to hear about your writing experience with the one, the good and the bad.

I’m planning to use it pretty often as a note taking pen, so any thoughts on daily use would be amazing too!

Thanks guys 🤙
