what plants best supplement a pork-heavy keto diet?
I want to give keto another try. I would do carnivore, but ruminant meat is expensive here in Germany. Pork, on the other hand, is dirt cheap, so I want to rely on that more.
From what I understand, pork is not as nutritionally complete as beef and hence shouldn't be the foundation of a carnivore diet. Correct me if I am wrong.
What plants/vegetables go well together with pork to make sure I get everything I need in my diet? I also eat eggs and supplement with omega-3, magnesium glycinate, vitamin D3, and creatine.
[Discussion] Systems aside, how do you set powerful goals?
I know that systems and routines are more important than writing down your goals. But I already have those in place.
But sometimes, when things get tough, I just want something to look at to remind myself what I'm working towards.
What's your favorite, most motivating way of goal setting? I tried just writing them down (SMART style), but that doesn't do much for me.
I am basically just looking for creative ways to visualize and track my goals and have them in front of me as often as possible.
I remember watching Dr. Chaffee's videos and being so excited...
I was so excited when I listened to Anthony Chaffee talk about the carnivore diet, how it turns you into a superhuman, and how the last 5% of strictness makes all the difference.
I followed the diet with 100% adherence. No coffee, no spices, just meat, eggs, butter, and the occasional piece of hard cheese. On my New York vacation, I ate only hard-boiled eggs and quarter-pounder beef patties.
I did that for over 1.5 years, waiting for my body to finally adapt to this superior diet and giving me all these amazing benefits. As time passed, I was getting a bit nervous about the lack of results, but the folks on r/carnivorediet kept telling me that I just had to wait because my body first needed to heal from all the damage done from eating vegetables.
And then? Nothing. I never felt any different. My gray hair didn't go away, my eyesight didn't get better, and I didn't get to 10% body fat as Dr. Chaffee promised. In fact, I gained weight and lost my sixpack. My cravings for more variety didn't go away either. I don't know if I got any benefits at all.
This diet works great for sick people or overweight people who stop eating processed garbage for the first time in their lives. But it's not this secret key to life that its followers claim.
I want to discuss the following observation I made on the Keto diet:
When I eat in a calorie deficit with the usual <=2g/kg of protein, my muscles quickly look flat and thin.
But when I eat 3g/kg of protein (240g at 80kg in my case), my muscles stay full. Why is that?
The obvious explanation is gluconeogenesis. But if it's a demand-driven process, why does my very high protein intake affect it?
Fiber and protein get a bad rep, but it's really carbohydrates and fruits that obliterate my stomach and make me poop 3+ times a day.
I'm currently on a high-fiber, high-protein keto diet, and my stomach hasn't been that calm in a long time.
I am convinced humans are not supposed to eat carbohydrates in large amounts. The fact that they rot our teeth is another indicator.
