La Sportiva Helios 3 good enough or are there better options?
Hi there,
In the last year i have reignited my passion for running and i particularly enjoy trail running.
Why do i say reignited? Because i had also trained constantly for a few years when i was in high school, around 7-8 years ago.
Right now i only own two pairs of shoes for running which are the Asics Gel-Excite 10 for road and intervals and Asics Trabuco Terra 2 for trails and i am looking to expand my trail shoe collection. I was thinking about a lighter model with lower stack height which i had back then, and that model is the Helios from La Sportiva. Cant remember if i had the first or the second version, leaning towards having had the second version.
I remember really enjoying how light my feet felt in them, how grippy they were and not rolling my ankles as much in them haha. Is the 4mm drop difference between the Trabuco and the Helios 3 gonna be noticeable? Would i need to adapt first before going for long distances? Also, do you know how durable the Helios 3 is? I remember that old version i had was starting to get broken at the mesh near my pinky at the end of its life but no idea at what mileage and i see different opinions online. What other pairs could i get for the same money that would be better?
24M, 70kg, midfoot striker, mostly going on forest paths and roads, sometimes with roots, rarely on more rocky terrain but i still do technical rocky terrain from time to time. Most of my runs are under 10km at the moment with some longer ones from time to time.
Thank you for any insight, all the information online about all the different shoes is pretty overwhelming.
