I’m an adult ESL teacher and I’m trying to improve a friend’s English. (She and I speak another language.)
She seems keenly interested in learning some songs. I want to give her something in the peppy side, as she’s a peppy person. I don’t want to give anything that’s a drag in terms of lyrics. She’s an older woman so vulgar ideas and words will not go over well. (Maybe a hell or damn.)
Can I have some suggestions, please?

My birthday was the end of May. They took my application over the phone. Soon it will be three months. My existing insurance kicked me out and I have no insurance at all now.
When I was young, I had SSD and Medicare for about ten years. I worked hard on my disability and went back to work.
Someone had told me one of the times I called that this would be easier because they just had to reactivate my old account.
On another call, I was told that my old account was cancelled.
On another call I was told that they sent my card with the original number to the address I lived at 25 years ago when I was disabled.
On another call I was told that didn’t happen and they had my proper address.
On the most recent call, the person was so confused but finally told me they were still working on it, like that was normal.
What do you think is going on here?
I developed a case of AION while taking a GLP1. Thankfully, it’s not that bad. I’m wondering if anyone else has had this problem, what it was like, and what you did. Also, did you stop taking the GLP1?
When it happened to me, they had not yet made the connection between GLP1 and AION and I have yet to discuss it with my doctors.
I just turned 65. I have been on this journey for a few years, but the time has never been right for surgery. Now, it is.
I have to lose maybe 75 pounds. As it stands now, I’m exhausted half the time (I’m also T2D). Apart from hoping to resolve the T2D, I’m hoping to restore my energy level.
I know that post surgery, most people are probably more tired in the beginning. But I would like to know how your long term energy levels are. Are they improved? Please share your experiences with this.

I went out in the middle of the night and slipped it into a trash bag, tied it securely, put it in another trash bag, tied that securely, and binned it.

I want to preface this by saying I am a wasp admirer. But I am faced with a situation where I have wasps that need to be evicted.
I live in an apartment with a small balcony. My husband hung up a dried gourd about the size of a grapefruit, that had a large hole in the side, maybe the size of a top of a cat food can.
I think he was hoping a bird would nest in it, but instead, wasps are beginning to nest in it.
Before things get out of hand, I was thinking I could go out at night and slip a trash bag over it, slip it off the wall and tie up the bag.
The balcony is too small and the gourd is in a place where it’s not feasible for them to remain.
I can’t toss it off the balcony for them to fly away because there are downstairs neighbors.
My other option is to call the handyman and let him deal with them as he sees fit. I don’t know how long this will take or what he would do.
I would prefer to get this done sooner rather than later while there are still only a few of them.
Please tell me if my idea is safe and if you have any tips about this. Thank you.
What are these people smoking that they can find the nerve to say this to Gordon? And as much as he is abrasive and doesn’t pull any punches, he never says, “Who do you think you’re talking to? One of us has multiple Michelin stars and restaurants, and it’s not you! And I didn’t ask to come here! You asked ME!”
I don’t know how he holds himself back.
I will be going on a two or three day road trip with my elderly cat at the end of the month. She’s little and I have a rather large dog crate so she will have room to move and sleep, and a small litter box and food.
I will have to stay in pet friendly hotels, and I have a question. I want to stop along the way in my trip and take my aunt out for lunch. She’s rather elderly and I don’t get to her area very often.
I’m wondering if it’s ok to leave the cat in the hotel in her crate for maybe two or three hours so I can take my aunt out. I don’t want to be a jerk but she is really quiet and I would keep her in the crate while I’m out so she’s not overwhelmed. Depending on the weather I might be able to leave her in the crate in the car with the windows down but that’s really not something I feel terribly comfortable with.
Does anyone know of a book, or any other resource, which provides phonics lessons or practice that’s geared towards adult learners?
