(19 y.o. Male) Back in 2019, I posted a story about a painting I did. A girl I didn't really know, but had probably heard of, replied with a "Cool". I just thanked her and that was it.

Fast forward to 2026. I stumbled upon her profile again. She unfollowed me at some point, changed her username to something aesthetic/mysterious, and her name is literally the Japanese kanji for "Secret". I didn't even recognize her at first because her style has completely changed.

However, our chat history from 2019 is still there. I was looking back at my old DMs, saw her text, and it clicked. Honestly, she is really cute and I'd like to get to know her.

Here is my idea: I still have that exact painting. I want to send her a quick text/voice note saying something like: "Hey, I was looking back at some old DMs and came across yours. I don't really remember who you are, but you had replied to the story about the drawing I made. I still have that drawing collecting dust in my basement somewhere, and I'd rather give it to someone than just let it sit there. Since you were one of the few people who appreciated it, I'd like to give it to you as a gift, or eventually ship it to you if you don't live around here anymore."

My goal is to not make it look like I'm hitting on her, but I just want to do something nice.

Be brutally honest: Is this a cool move or is it pure try-hard cringe? What would you think if you received a message like this?
