I live quite inland and it gets very hot in the summer. I do not have central air but two years ago I brought up the excessive heat and my landlord bought me a portable air conditioner.

But with the latest heat wave it has been up to 90° inside my house with the AC running. It’s not strong or effective enough to cool down my living room.

Does he have any responsibility to remedy this? I’d really like him to get a mini split installed but he’s kind of a cheap skate so not sure that will happen.

I understand air conditioners aren’t required in California, but with the recent passage of SB 655 rental units must maintain a safe maximum indoor temperature.

I recently got married and changed my name. I then went to the Social Security office and changed my name with them too but they misspelled my name. Do I have to go back in to the office? Or can they just fix it? They have a copy of my identification and marriage certificate. I really don’t want to drive 2 hours again to go to the office.
