What a fun little game, perfect for a train table! I already want to get the expansion pack, but it seems next to impossible to get my hands on in the UK...

Strategy advice: Unbroken

I keep finding myself in situations where, when facing the very last foe, I end up dying by running out of *minor* effort. Since there is no way to gain minor effort (there's only 1-way upgrading to medium and high effort), I just get stuck.

For example, in the game pictured here, I could have defeated the ogre with a last blow that would have only cost 1 minor effort and 1 metal... but then I would have run out of minor effort and immediately died. It doesn't matter that I would have gained effort through food after the fight (I had enough food stored up), the fact that I would have dipped to 0 during the fight means I would have died.

I'm considering implementing a house rule where the effort "upgrade" options would be effort "trade" options instead, so I can trade medium and high effort for minor effort as combat options.

Any tips to help? It seems I have this issue no matter how much effort I save before the final fight, but maybe I just need to try to save even more...

Down to 1 HP for both myself and the tyrant. Even though I had 6 attack dice to roll on my turn, I had unfortunately rolled a poison modifier to Ghillie on Drellen's turn, which killed me off before I was able to roll on my turn and finish him off 😭

I don't have children of my own, so being supported like this from my new family is amazing. I teared up when they showed it to me... and it was even coffee (another important hobby of mine) flavored!

Finally won 2 games in a row after losing 5, with some help from commenters here... thank you!

Also, I have a rules verification question: for the "Thirteen Meters Under" card pictured here, I have an upgrade that costs 3 fewer action points to play. Does this mean that I can basically get 13 damage split between 3 different threats *for free*?
