Empty homes??

I live in a desirable suburb of LA and went on a walk today in my neighborhood before dinner. I noticed at least 3 modestly sized houses sitting completely vacant in a 3 block perimeter. My nosey ass took it upon myself to see when their last sale date was thinking, idk, maybe new tenants haven't moved in yet? Come to find out each of them have been owned by the same people for 20+ years, respectively.

What could possibly be the benefit of this? Pay property tax on a house you are neither living in nor renting? Why?

1st date outfit

Fell in love with this outfit and want to recreate it for a first date! The original top is sold out and too many alternatives for the skirt that are a little too boho-y.

Any suggestions on where I can find these items? Would do the top in white as well. tyia ❤️

Encountering stigma in real life is a shock

We all are obviously aware of the stigma that surrounds DOs and osteopathic medicine, even as it improves bit by bit every year. I encountered it for the first time in person yesterday and it caught me off guard.

Long story short, was having a group conversation with friends and some friends of friends who don't know I'm in medical school. Somehow the conversation comes up about a physician currently running for local office with some crooked politics. A friend of a friend makes a comment that we need to "stop idolizing physicians and thinking they're all the pinnacle of morality." Then goes on to say that many people in our community are DOs and Caribbean trained physicians who got into medical school through "loop-holes" ? Not even sure what he was trying to imply, considering the physician-politician the conversation was about is a US MD.

What do you even say to people who think like this? It's one thing to have some MDs treat us like shit because of superiority complex, it's another thing to have a total layperson from my community imply that I'm not gonna be a real doctor because I got into school through a "loop-hole." I tried to argue that we take all the same licensing exams and residencies as MDs, but it seemed like it was lost on deaf ears. We do all of the same material AND MORE just to be talked about like this.

Edit: Hope no one misunderstands - I am still very proud of being a DO and the work I've put in to get here. And it won't change the standard I hold myself to and the grace with which I carry myself because at the end of the day, I know the truth. I will be a doctor soon and no one can take that away from me 😄

Y'all ever head of a next door neighbor stomping so hard your bed shakes

Cause I have... every single day starting from 6am

When they first moved in I had to keep reminding myself it wasn't an earthquake
