I hate untalented valley

I hate untalented valley

Specifically, I hate how oversaturated untalented valley is. Beginners get praise because people want to support kids and their dreams. Skilled artists get support because they're skilled.

In the massive valley of mid artists, there's almost nothing. Kofi pages gather dust, commission sheets gather dust, most people there get like 10 likes on their post. And many of them become bitter or resentful over it. And because of this resentment, they may stagnate or quit and never reach the point of being a decently skilled artist.

Semi related nitpick but I also dislike when artists count EVERY year they've spent drawing as a year of experience. Eg: "I have 14 years of art experience" and the person is 18 years old, and they're counting their preschool days as experience. I know it's technically accurate but still.

I hate the “let’s see YOU do better” mentality

Not hating on the person who drew this. Anyone is entitled to their opinion, even if they can’t do any better themselves. Even if you haven’t done anything noteworthy, you still have a right to free speech.

There’s also the precedent this sets that only talented people are allowed to criticize. If the “hater” happened to be super talented, would you allow them to do whatever they want then?

I hate this envious attitude of calling yourself underrated

Not hating on the person who made this image, especially since this attitude is actually super common.

It's the attitude of "The popular artists are just privileged and I'm an underrated gem who only gets a fraction of the likes they get" and it's obviously just envy. There's not really any privilege anyways for artists online, it's not like money inherited from rich parents. Every artist starts out with a brand new account with 0 followers or likes. Your race, gender, social class, etc. are all irrelevant. It's just you and your art.

Aside from that a lot of these self proclaimed "underrated" artists are honestly not there yet. I've seen a few posts on this sub complaining about how their OCs are overlooked compared to pretty goonbait art, and the comments are full of other small artists plugging their own work and complaining about how it got 8 likes and hating on art of big boobs because they think they deserve the attention more. And honestly, a lot of their work is pretty mid or below mid. The attitude reeks of entitlement and envy; the so called "privileged popular" artist worked just as hard as you did, if not more. Probably more because a lot of their work is honestly much higher quality.
