Women with teens, Snapchat yes or no?

My teen just entered high school and he's begging me for Snapchat. I say no, dad says sure why not.

I've had Snapchat, I know it's reputation (at least back in the day) is used for sending nudes and disappearing messages. Ofc my son swears he won't use it for that, but I just think the temptation is too great.

He already has tiktok but he claoms everyone - the girls, specifically - are using Snap.

I monitor his TT use and probably won't be able to with Snap.

My husband says it's time to loosen the grip. Am I being too strict or paranoid?

Attic crawlspace door fell and shattered. What can I do now?

We accidentally cracked the door to our attic crawlspace, then it feel through the opening and shattered.

Does anyone know if I can get a replacement? Is this something we can DIY? Grateful for any insight. Thanks!

Tulare and surrounding areas: the Tulare County Fair Grounds is in talks to build a DATA CENTER. Board meeting Tuesday 7/21

Hey everyone! The Tulare County fairgrounds is in talks with a southern California company to bring a data center to the fairgrounds. A data center here is a terrible idea. We're perpetually in a drought as is, it would pollute our water and land, noise pollution as well, not to mention that AI is meant to also offload work force.

Come out to the board tomorrow tomorrow 7/21 at 6 pm. The Jockey Club 620 South K St, Tulare. You can also attend virtually via Zoom but in person support always sends the strongest message.

This is a non-partisan issue that will affect us all. Please come and say your piece or attend in support. This may be our communities only chance to prevent a data center near us.

How do you feel about everyone's flakiness?

I've noticed that in the past several years, so many people have become flaky with very little excuse or care. Is it just me? Is it just my friend group?

For example, a friend has spent weeks planning a birthday party for her child, then the night before in the group chat one of the friends gives a "heads up" that she might not go after all, depends on how she's feeling. Of course, being sick is always a good excuse to not go somewhere, but this friend has been up and down everywhere lately and suddenly "might" not feel well. The birthday party means a lot to our friend, so why is the other friend so nonchalant about canceling?

Another time, I co-hosted a bbq, got a head count, bought food and drinks, then the day of a bunch of people didn't show up. Their excuses ranged from a last minute invite to something else, a guy they're crushing on asked them out, felt like sleeping instead, just didn't feel like it.

Another time I was hosting a social meet up at a bar, it was a big deal to me as it took a lot of planning and effort to organize. A close friend didn't show up and her excuse was that she felt like staying home to craft instead.

So many other examples. Not just my events, but friends events as well.

My point is that people just seem so careless. When called out, I've noticed that the stance people take is that they're setting boundaries and if you question it or push back then you're not respecting their boundaries.

What happened to the days of sticking to your commitments? If you say you'll be somewhere, you go.
