Recent reissue here on the WeWantSounds label.
Reissued here on the small but mighty Want Some Records label in 2024. He also reissued the album ‘Mapendo’ in 2023.
Found this while hitting up a shop out of state last week. Cover has some wear but I don’t think it’s ever been played. A double album featuring Ron Carter and Buster Williams together live, with Kenny Barron and Ben Riley (drummer on ‘P’tah the El Daoud’, ‘Monastic Trio’, ‘Lord of Lords’). I am thoroughly enjoying this one.
Finally found a NM copy of this in a shop I visit every few months. A funky burner and, unlike a lot of CTI releases, kind of hard to find - at least for me.
Great group here; Grusin, Gale, Steig on funky flute and the always badass Steve Gadd on drums (from my hometown, shout out to upstate NY lol).
Finally found a copy of this South African masterpiece (reissued on the incomparable Matsuli Music label).
A powerful collection of music created in the midst of apartheid, including a beautiful tribute to the then-exiled Abdullah Ibrahim (RIP) - “Dollar the Great”.

Stone funk classic
Harold Vick recording here as Sir Edward on Bernard Purdie’s ‘Encounter’ label. Jazz Room label reissue, surprisingly elusive but I finally scored a mint copy.
Stellar band, and a smoking version of “People Make the World Go ‘Round” - a song I never get tired of hearing cover versions of.
An exceptional album from Argentinean saxophonist Horacio Barraro. Meditative, funky, and spacey. An excellent pressing here from the original tapes on the Altercat label.
Absolute masterpiece from the iconic Cedric ‘Im’ Brooks. Reissue from Pressure Sounds.
A few other recent reissues I’ve been spinning up there as well.
A true gem, originally privately pressed and reissued here as part of the Jazzman Holy Grail Series.
Accomplished group of amazing musicians playing on vibist Rickey Kelly’s original compositions including Adele Sebastian and Billy Higgins, Tony Dumas, Charles Owens and sweet spiritual vocals from Diane Reeves.
A standout in the always interesting Grail series.
Excellent AAA reissue on Jazz Dispensary label.
Classic release from the superb Blood & Fire label (reissued on vinyl by Simply Vinyl).
Nice little soul jazz cooker on the Cobblestone label. Creque had a couple of solo releases; he also worked with Grant Green, Mongo Santamaria and probably best known for his late sixties albums with Pucho & His Latin Soul Brothers.
