how to practice/what constitutes good photography?

Hi! I was recently passed down a Nikon D3100 and want to start photography as a hobby and potentially make money off of it in the future.

I've played around with the settings and taken pictures of my cats and stuff but I'm not sure what I should be doing to become an actual good photographer. I'm limited as to where i can travel or buy so I want to keep my practice simple but efficient. Let me know what I can do to gain skills. Thank you for your advice.

need help writing rec letter request

okay so i planned for my main rec letter to be from a club advisor of a club i'm a part of, and i asked him before school ended. he told me he didn't want my brag sheet because he didn't want to simply list off what was already elsewhere on my application and instead to write a "one-pager" about what i wanted him to say and to sort of like point him in the direction that i wanted this rec letter to go. i don't know what to put on this one pager to help him write a good letter. i am trying to get into nyu stern. help.

dont have any ec's from 9th grade

okay so my school district is set up weird all the freshmen are in their own building like a mile away from the main high school. the main hs houses grades 10-12. people go from middle school to the freshman campus to the real high school.

the freshmen campus lowkey has nothing going on you're really just there to go to class and leave and we did have a club fair but they were only for freshman-center specific clubs which all sucked and the real high school clubs rarely came to promote. most of my EC's that i do have now say 10-12 or 11-12.

should i explain this in the additional information section?

how to reach the right audience

Hi! I recently started a digital magazine on Instagram but am struggling to find the right audience. I have 300 followers right now, but 90% of those are just other magazines and creators doing something similar. I need help reaching people who are actually interested in what I'm doing and will interact with my content.

help

okay so this whole time i thought my mom had a college degree so that's what i'd been putting on summer program apps but i just recently found out that she did not in fact go to college and she got confused because she went to school in a different country where she got a certificate for a specific career in high school and she thought that counted as a degree.

when i apply to college and put "high school or equivalent" are they gonna see my records from the summer program applications if they have like a system or something and think im lying

is filling all 10 ec spots truly the bare minimum

i have about 8 solid EC's that i truly do care about, and there are two other things that i COULD include but they're just not as substantial as the rest of them. is it gonna hurt my application to include weak ec's or can they only help

i wouldn't classify them as "passion projects" but they are related to my major and have been very significant to me and ive been successful so far and hopefully that will continue into application season but like are they gonna think that im only doing this for college

is undergraduate accounting worth it

so i'm applying to NYU stern's b.s. in business soon and you can choose up to two concentrations, my first one has always been marketing and for the longest time i was set on accounting as my second one. i want to work in the fashion industry as a creative director or something similar but i added accounting for the stability (ive taken accounting classes and enjoyed it so might as well).

recently i found out another concentration offered there is "sustainable business." ive always known i wanted to incorporate sustainability/ethics into my career in some form and the classes in this concentration seem really interesting.

i've also always been worried that accounting would hurt my gpa because i know it's super hard especially at a place like stern. either way, i plan to get an MAcc after finishing my bachelor's and you don't necessarily need to have done your undergrad in accounting for it, just something in business.

the only thing is that at stern if i concentrated in accounting for undergrad i couldve qualified for their
BS/MS program which would've allowed me to get my MAcc only a couple of weeks after graduating with my bachelor's rather than in the year it typically takes, and this is the one thing stopping me from switching to sustainable business.

if i do switch my concentration selection to sustainable business i will definitely find a way to incorporate it into my essays/supplementals in a better way than i could for accounting.

should i do it?

edit: i also plan on minoring in data science if that means anything
