Solidworks Personal Project

I dont know if this 100% fits into this community but i'll ask anyways,

I am somewhat familiar with Solidworks, and i want to create something in it that could have some type of impact or use in the real world. Doing this mainly because i want to have a solid aerospace engineering activity under my college application before applying. Is there anything that i could do that would be impactful, even if its in the slightest bit?

Degree Jobs Need?

Im wanting to pursue a bachelors in aerospace engineering but im seeing that 99% of jobs dont even require such a degree and take MechE and ElecE. Do defense contractors really require you to have a aerospace specific degree or is there any positions where they require specifically an aerospace degree?

Aerospace Bachelors Worth It?

Im wanting to pursue a bachelors in aerospace and later on work in the defense sector, but i am now getting worried this will be a bad decision as im now hearing a degree in aerospace is very restricting, the job opportunity isnt there, and other degrees like mechanical or electrical can do what aerospace can do but they also have more options outside of it.

Is a bachelors in aerospace engineering really worth it?
