So I’ve defeated alduin and I’m wanting to start the civil war quests.

I’ve never done these quests before so I have a few questions.

I’m siding with the empire so after I side with them can I go to windhelm without being attacked?

Is there any special way to start the questline or do I just go ahead and speak to legate rikke?

Is there anything I should do before starting the questline?
