My mother is pushing 80 and not all that mobile, but would really like to see fireworks this year. Where I used to live there were a couple of places where you could drive up and sit in your car and watch them, or sit in your car right until they start and then watch them. Is there anywhere like that around here? I know the lakefront is generally impossible, but any other suggestions would be appreciated.
So I signed up for the summer pass with lucky strike. Seems like a good deal, with two free games and shoes every single day.
I was wondering if anybody else got it, and would be interested in a virtual bowling league. I did a little bit of googling and found some software that you can set up so people can just submit their scores, but I'm not going to do any deeper dive unless I know other people might be interested.
I work from home it was just looking for an excuse to get out of the house a little bit more often
I don't know how financially secure they are off of the pod, but since the early days, while I was working on my dissertation, I kept thinking how great an academic researcher and professor Dan would be.
My own dissertation work was on online conspiracy, so I'm a bit biased, but I think there's a place for somebody like Dan with real credentials in more mainstream academia. I've worked with a couple of folks who have become public intellectuals (like Roxane Gay) and think Dan would do great in that space, but he also fits in with folks like Jenny Rice who have taken a scholarly approach to conspiracy
So something is leaving droppings on my kitchen counter and other surfaces around the house. Not a lot. I went out of town for 3 days and came back and found like eight of them total across multiple rooms. I know there could be a lot more in corners or utility rooms or whatever, I'm just not seeing a lot of them.
I can't really afford an exterminator right now so I'm trying to do it myself. I've put down nearly a dozen traps in two different rooms each, including live traps, snap traps, and glue traps after the first two haven't worked. I've used actual bait, fudge, cheese, peanut butter and Nutella.
Nothing. It's been a couple of weeks at this point, and the number of droppings aren't going up, but my blood pressure definitely is since I still haven't been able to catch anything. I put down poison a couple of weeks ago in a couple of those little boxes, but obviously there's no real proof that that works or not if they crawl somewhere in a wall and die.
So what the heck do I do?
