Hoping for some advice…

My little boy is 14 months old and only falls asleep by being walked around the room over and over whilst I sing to him. He still wakes a few times a night (average about 3 times) and we respond to every wake up and do the walking/singing til he falls asleep. Occasionally he has self settled - but it’s quite rare.

My issue is that he’s getting really heavy and our backs are hurting from all this walking and carrying him to sleep. I want to be a responsive parent and be there for him, I’ve never wanted to sleep train him but I really would like for him to be able to fall asleep in his cot by me just either patting or stroking him

He has strong emotions and is not one who can calm down quickly. I’ve tried putting him in his cot and reassuring / comforting him that way but he gets angry and scream cries.

Any advice? Or will I be still walking him to sleep when he’s 3 years old lol. My poor back 🙃

this feels dramatic but…

I nearly started to cry yesterday at a family event because I looked around the room and every single person can get in bed at night, fall asleep peacefully and sleep all night and wake up whenever they want. They can lay in bed all day if they want to.

It made me want to cry because I miss that so much. I have a 13 month old who goes to bed between 8:30 and 9pm, wakes up in the night and is up for the day at 6am. He doesn’t stop moving, he’s so so active.

I just want to be able to go to bed and stay in bed. That feels so far away right now

Worlds smallest problem to have and I’m so blessed but I just feel so sad about it

Have I reversed all of our hard work (night weaning)

Have I messed up night weaning? My exclusively breastfed about to be 12 month old has been night weaned for 4 weeks now. He used to wake up constantly so we night weaned and it improved so good, he even got down to just 1 wake up. Until this heatwave started and he’s not doing so great sleeping.

We’re obviously doing everything we can to keep him cool and offer him lots of water, but it seems to hit 4am and he just refuses to go back to sleep, and I’ve (for the third time now) ended up feeding him around 5am ish because I just don’t know what else to do, it’s so hot we are both sweating rocking him to sleep for an hour. Baby will then usually fall back to sleep for an hour or so.

I fear that I’ve messed up as we were doing so well - no feeds before 6. Is this just a weather thing or have I messed up night weaning??

Night weaning night 3 worse than 1&2

We just did night 3 of night weaning and it seems to be getting worse? We had more wakeups than ever. Night 1 was messy but night 2 we saw progress - he slept for 3 hours straight.

Is this normal?

We are night weaning my breastfed 11 month old son starting tonight. Plan to go cold turkey. He’s always been a pretty bad sleeper and never sleep trained. He’s clearly habit waking every hour or so because he’s usually fed back to sleep. He eats very well in the day and I know he doesn’t need to feed in the night.

My plan with my partner is to split the night and share the wakings and basically comfort him as much as we can. We believe we have sleep pressure all correct so I really do think he’s waking from habit.

Not got my hopes up, not expecting this to fix the sleep but want to try.

Has anyone got any tips or advice or positive stories? Thanks

Please could you tell me your experiences with night weaning a breastfed baby? My son is 11 months old and wakes honestly about 5-8 times a night, we think it’s a habit because I always feed him back to sleep in the night. I’m hoping to stop breastfeeding after he turns 1 because I’m so done with it. So this obviously means night weaning him. I’m thinking of stopping night feeds cold turkey because he has no real set wake times, he’s so unpredictable.

Has anyone had any experience of this? Did night weaning help with the night wake ups at all
