Chaotic Revival Do Nots

These are the things that would absolutely doom the revival

  1. Do Not relaunch the game with Dawn of Perim only. That set is so ass, basic, and boring that you'll instantly lose all your potential new customers

  2. Do Not reintroduce randomized stats on creatures. While a cute gimmick tied to the theme of the game, it creates a pay to win structure where certain copies of the cards are worthless compared to ones with more energy or Courage or whatever. If they are dead set on keeping these, they must create a system in whatever gatcha online platform they launch to upgrade these stats using additional copies of a card you pulled. (Edit: seems like a lot of people believe it's a huge part of Chaotic's unique identity and I have to agree. There has to be a way to balance it competitively though. I kinda like u/Piccione_Sol method of increasing stats for the digital version of the card by being able to apply the highest stat of a card of the code you type in to a copy of your card. Or I like my method of being able to use extra copies of a card for some type of points to boost stats. Would love to hear other ideas on this, so that we could keep the stat randomization mechanic) (Edit 2: I actually really love u/ActionFrequent 's method of keeping energy standardized but keeping the other stats have a total amount they can equal and everything is in a +-10 stat range to keep the total stat amount the same. My Chaor might have more power than yours, but to compensate it has lower courage. Together both versions of the card have stats that total 220 or whatever) Speaking of online platforms:

  3. Do Not launch with a physical only platform. The physical tcg is such a crowded space right now that unless you're attached to an already successful IP, you're gonna have a low chance of success. An online platform allows people to stream your game on twitch and distribute cards much faster. But do not rely on this as you're only gimmick. It was cool in 2010, but it's 2026. A lot of games have an online platform. It's more of a necessity than a standout point. Although it might even be better to skip the physical tcg aspect entirely.

  4. Do not continue/copy the old rarity system. If they do decide to launch physical product, the old rarity system will make product almost worthless. We're seeing this in games like Yu-Gi-Oh where a few standout competitive cards are made ultra and secret rare worth $80 a copy and every other card in the 100 card set is pack filler worth cents. This creates an incentive to just buy the cards you want through a 3rd party site like TCGPlayer for a couple dollars rather than dropping money on a new pack. This causes product to rot on the shelf and slash it's prices within a week by up to 75%. Having randomized stats would only exacerbate this problem. If stores can't make money off your product, they won't sell it. If retailers aren't selling it, then your game dies. Big sad. Copy MTG or Pokemon's system where all cards have a cheap affordable version so people can play with them, but have exclusive chase versions of the cards (Special artwork idk) that collector's can chase by ripping packs. Or again, launch exclusively digitally and avoid this problem entirely.

  5. Do not change the art style too significantly. It's iconic and part of the game's identity. No AI artwork. A worrying sign of this is Maxxor's feet in the countdown promo picture. He has claws now? He definitely didn't in the cartoon. And Maxxor and Chaor look a little more vibrant and cartoony compared to before. Modernizing the art is fine, but if the game feels too different you'll lose a lot of us older fans. You need us to market the game via word of mouth.

  6. Most importantly: Do Not change the core gameplay. Yes there needs to be some small gameplay flow tweaks, but the game should largely resemble what we grew up with and have continued to yearn for after all these years. Again, if you treat us dedicated fans with respect, we will market this game for you on your behalf to ensure its success.

That's all I could think of. Sorry if I rambled a bit. Please let me know if you disagree on any of this or have any other Do Nots. My love for this game has remained strong over 16 years and I want it to succeed so badly. Can't wait to get Chaotic with all of you again!

Can I claim all the old rocket researches I was saving now that we can unequip rocket radars? Or should I still not progress past the first page until Giovanni has a Pokemon I want?

I have my Discover and Fidelity Credit cards linked to PayPal, yet whenever I make an online purchase using PayPal at checkout, I don't receive any PayPal rewards points. Am I misunderstanding how the system works?
