Helicopter route

Does anybody know what route the helicopter took through the island in the first film? Also, where is it supposed to be coming from, the East Dock or the mainland? If it's coming from the mainland, would it not have a more northerly route over the majority of the island? I've always assumed it followed the river from the East Dock, but the movie shows it coming from the sea and there is no noticeable river as it flies through a real world valley in Hawaii.

It is a crime against humanity that there is no official map of Isla Nublar and that the geography and layout changes with each film, TV show, video game, etc. Chricton could have learned a thing or two from J.R.R. Tolkien. I've included a fan attempt at an accurate map, but there's still a lot of inconsistency between the book and the movie.

I want to begin another attempt at building a lore-accurate recreation of Jurassic Park in Jurassic World Evolution 3, and I would like to shape my island according to this scene.

Muldoon helping debug IT issues

So, I'm rewatching Jurassic Park for the umpteenth time and I can't help but notice Muldoon spends what seems like several hours (night falls between Nedry's shenanigans and the T-Rex escaping and, oh yeah, Ellie is back) in the control center "helping" debug IT issues (he probably doesn't even understand) instead of saving the children. It is only after a lengthy T-Rex assault, the car is thrown over the edge into the enclosure, and the T-Rex loses interest and leaves the area that Hammond finally turns to Muldoon and says "I wonder if perhaps you would be good enough to take a gas jeep and bring back my grandchildren?"

I know we're missing hours of the tour cars traversing a rather large park and the computers are down so they don't know what is happening or the precise location they stopped, but wouldn't it have made sense for Muldoon to grab a rocket launcher rifle and a Jeep and start backtracking their route as soon as everything stopped working so as to find them before a T-Rex tries to eat them? Not only is it night time (kids, be back before dark, ya hear?) but they're also being hammered with a hurricane and they knew the fences went down as soon as Nedry disappeared. Can I assume this is handled better in the book? Maybe it's just badly cut together because Muldoon does seem to teleport out there just in time to find Malcolm and give us the infamous chase seen?

[Edit: just to clarify, I'm not attacking or criticizing Muldoon. I'm just appreciating the irony that he was watching Samuel L. Jackson operate a computer when his skills were needed in the field.]
