(Noobie Question) Sub €200 jacket recommendations (and what's wrong with Dope Snow jackets?)

Hey everyone,

Started skiing last year in the Three Valleys(Val Thorens) and I need to upgrade my jacket before next season.

My helmet and goggles are Oakley, and my pants are just basic ones from Decathlon that do the job fine. The only thing I really need to swap out is my jacket, which was literally a Lidl special 😅. It actually worked surprisingly well for my first week, but I want something a bit nicer now.

Budget is under €200.

I really like the look of Dope Snow and saw a ton of people wearing it on the mountain, but whenever I search for reviews on Reddit, people seem to hate on it constantly. Is it actually terrible quality, or is it just elitism from seasoned skiers?

Can anyone explain what's wrong with Dope, and are there any better alternatives in that price range with a similar aesthetic look?

Got my first Stanley Mate System today

I managed to snag this Stanley on the EU website the second it dropped at 6 PM my time.

I didn't try the previous handle design, so I can't really compare them, but the current handle seems nice. I like the small notch in the cup that holds the bombia.

Also, the mate system spout is a game changer. It is WAY BETTER than trying to pour from a normal wide-mouth thermos.

How do you guys like the new handle compared to the old one?

Forgot to mention, having mint CBSe in the cup. Lovely and refreshing on a hot summer day.
