Something a lot of people might not have noticed during D23 is that they updated their card count for printed cards. It tells us a lot.
AotV Lorecast we were told they printed 2.5 billion cards in the last 3 years (sets 1-12) and during the D23 Lorcana show they said it was now 2.8 billion. (sets 1-13)
This means AotV got (FORGOT ABOUT THE CURATORS OOPSIE POOPSIE) 300 ~250 million cards printed in total. This gives us confirmation of how much they are printing per set nowadays. That means AotV alone accounts for ~8.9% of the total Lorcana cards that are out there. This is very likely the most printed set they have done since the first year of Lorcana. They are absolutely increasing the amount they're printing, but its still not enough to meet demand. Either they were somehow able to negotiate extra printing from MPG or they anticipated this from the very beginning. Either way I expect future sets to continue getting increased amounts of product. Hyperia City will probably be in the realm of ~350 million cards printed. Into the Inkdark will very likely be the most printed set in Lorcana history.
Sadly, with that and the announcement of set 17 next summer, it also kind of confirms we are very likely not going to be getting any reprints for the foreseeable future. And if we do, it will be an extremely low amount of cards printed so all of the potential product they will get out of it will be gobbled up just as fast and will barely impact the prices. They simply do not have the numbers to support reprints right now. So they likely know that it's not worth sacrificing print allocation for that and they're just better off putting it all into the next new set.
