Super Hang On acceleration issue

When I try and play Super Hang On (Mega Drive) on the emulator, for some reason I start accelerating without hitting any buttons. I get to about 90mph but then can’t brake or stop. I can speed up if I hit accelerate, but other than that I have no control over it.

Happy 66th Birthday SEGA! Celebrating my personal 8-bit to 16-bit pipeline.

Hey fellow SEGA fans!

With today being SEGA's 66th anniversary, I wanted to share a quick appreciation post for the two machines that started it all for me.

I was a Master System II kid first. Sure, it lacked the reset button and the card slot of the original model, but that sleek top-loader design was beautiful. Moving from that directly onto the Model 1 Mega Drive felt like moving into the future. The design language of this era was just unmatched.

For the veterans in here, did you follow this exact same upgrade path, or did you skip the 8-bit era entirely to jump straight into the 16-bit Blast Processing hype?

Point Blank vs. Time Crisis: What was the ultimate 90s light gun experience? 🕹️ 🔫

What's going on guys!

Stuart from RespawningUK and I dusted off the archives and plugged in the old PSX GunCon
to play Point Blank on the original PlayStation.

During the video, it sparked a great conversation about how different the light gun landscape was back then. Stuart was always a Time Crisis and Silent Scope fan, whereas I always had a massive soft spot for the quick-fire, mini-game madness of Point Blank.

Going back to it, the game is still surprisingly challenging-especially when you forget the rules of the level and just start blasting wildly.

If you're in the mood for some pure 90s arcade nostalgia and a lot of laughing at our terrible
shooting skills, check out the episode here.

Quick heads up: The video has a bit of a loud noise warning, we got pretty into it!

I'd love to know what the consensus is here. Did you prefer the mini-game variety of Point Blank, the action-movie cover mechanic of Time Crisis, or did you grow up strictly on Virtua Cop and House of the Dead? Let's debate!

[Sonic 2] Why the Death Egg Zone final boss fight left me completely confused...

Hey everyone!

I just wrapped up my "Comfort Classics" playthrough of Sonic the Hedgehog 2 on the Mega Drive, and hitting the Death Egg Zone was a massive reality check. Entering a final zone with zero rings and no checkpoints is pure psychological warfare.

But I experienced the strangest difficulty twist. I spent multiple attempts getting completely humbled by Mecha Sonic while trying to lock down his jump patterns and hitboxes. Yet, once he was down, I somehow managed to take down the massive Death Egg Robot on my very first attempt. The rhythm just clicked instantly.

If you want to check out the finale, the full gameplay, and my end-credits breakdown of how the difficulty holds up today compared to the rest of the original trilogy, you can watch it here.

For those who played it back in the day, did Mecha Sonic give you more grief than Eggman’s giant robot, or am I just remembering the difficulty scaling backward?

[Sonic 2] From the chillest vibes to a chicken with a gun. My heart was racing in Wing Fortress!

I’m continuing my journey through the Comfort Classics, and Sonic 2 just decided to throw hands. Sky Chase is easily one of the most imaginative levels in the trilogy, but the jump to Wing Fortress is a masterclass in ‘nasty’ design.

If you enjoy seeing a grown adult get stressed by a pixelated chicken, this one’s for you!

[OC] Is Metropolis Zone actually the hardest level in the original Sonic trilogy?

Metropolis Zone is officially live and I’m genuinely feeling the challenge. ⚙️🔥

I used to think Mystic Cave was the peak of difficulty, but this level is just nasty. Between the crushing traps and the infinite pathways, I’m calling it—this is the hardest zone in the originals.

In this episode:

The Struggle: Getting crushed immediately after praising the level design.
The Music: Easily my favorite track in the whole game.
The Debate: Is it just me getting older, or is Sonic 2 significantly more difficult than Sonic 3?
What do you think? Is this the hardest zone, or am I just out of practice?

I’ve been revisiting the originals lately and Im struck by the jump in difficulty. I remember the first game being relatively breezy, but Sonic 2 (Metropolis Zone specifically) feels like a massive spike.

Is it just me getting older and losing the muscle memory, or were the devs intentionally trying to make the sequel ‘ridiculously challenging’ compared to the first?

Happy Star Wars Day to the best community in the galaxy! 🌌

I’m celebrating the 4th by revisiting one of my absolute favorite pieces of Star Wars history: Episode I: Racer. There’s something about that podracing engine sound that never gets old.

I’ve put together a special 2026 event video for the occasion. Whether you're a podracing pro or just here for the nostalgia, come check it out!

Happy Friday!

The next leg of the Sonic 2 journey is up, and we've officially hit Oil Ocean Zone. Dealing with the rising oil, the platforming, and that iconic (but stressful) music.
In this episode:

Visibility Issues: Trying to keep sight of Sonic through that thick orange smog.

Oil Pits: The inevitable panic of the rising oil levels and the slow jump out.

Badniks: Fighting the urge to throw the controller after a well-placed Aquis shot from off-screen.
Grab a drink, enjoy the bass-heavy track of this zone, and come hang out in the comments!

Is it just me, or did Mystic Cave Zone get significantly harder since 1992?

I’m currently treading through Sonic 2 for my Comfort Classics series, and I realised halfway through this act that I had completely forgotten the boss, the music, and—most importantly—how to stay alive.

I’ll admit it: I’m not an expert. I’m just a guy trying to survive the green crushing pillars without losing my nerve. This video is basically a study in "treading carefully" while the game tries its absolute best to humble me.

How did we beat this as kids without save states? If you want to see a non-expert fight for his life in the name of nostalgia, have a look.
