youtu.beMy first attempt at a YouTube channel
[Afternoon, just a shameless plug on my YouTube channel if anyone fancies watching](https://youtu.be/bw0pPHuBbhw)
It's my attempt at working through my neverending retro gaming backlog and trying to narrow it down a bit.
Really enjoyed learning how to make these.
WHAT IS THE HARDEST RETRO GAME OF ALL TIME?
What is your personal nightmare, not considering popular opinions?
For me it has been Shadow of the Beast II (Amiga) - the game is so full of traps, puzzle elements and trial-and-error design that developers had to take step back for the third game. I personally have beaten the game only thanks to save states. Few honorable mentions: Battletoads (NES, 1991), Silver Surfer (NES), Ghosts 'n Goblins (Arcade/NES), Contra 3 (SNES), Contra Hard Corps (Genesis), Comix Zone (Genesis, 1995), Ecco the Dolphin (Genesis), Nightmare Creatures (PS1)

Do you prefer retro gaming videos under 10 minutes?
Hey everyone, I’ve been curious about this lately, especially with how YouTube seems to be changing.
I’ve noticed a lot of creators going in completely different directions lately. Some make fast paced videos, some do longer retrospectives and some do documentaries.
As a viewer, what do you prefer?
And if you’re a creator yourself, have shorter videos actually performed better for you lately?

Creating physical media for a game port that never happened — But, why?
A year ago I had this weird idea:
“What if Shenmue, the SEGA Dreamcast iconic game which I love, had received a Windows 98 release in an alternate gaming timeline?”.
This thought came from the fact that as a kid I did not have a Dreamcast....but, I had a computer! So, I always searched port-related rumors in magazines to keep my ilusion alive.
Well, now it’s real, sort of.
I spent the last 6 months actually finishing it as a physical artifact with my own artistic twist.
Not a game, no software included — just a full reimagined object of a release that never existed. I illustrated and designed the box, manuals, inserts, and even the CDs > inspired by Studio Ghibli aesthetics, 90s tech media, and my art style.
I only made 10 copies — never to be printed again — because every piece and box insert is crafted, assembled, hand-numbered, signed and sealed by me; and boy does it take time.
It is rewarding though, as there are many easter eggs in the content I know game collectors and Shenmue fans will appreciate.
The cover art alone is about 80-90 hours of work, and 55000 strokes. I recommend that if you have a simillar project, you spend your time there. Making a generic custom box… Well, anyone can do that today with AI.
This project was, and still is, a quite resource and time consuming. Hopefully, there are 10 passionated enthusiasts out there willing to the pay the high-end prices required to keep this alternative-gaming-timeline alive, and to materialized these 10 Shemue collectible boxes.
————
Ultimately, it's an ultra-limited fanart artifact / obsession, my biggest tribute to the original IP. When the boxes are gone, there are gone forever.
- Do you get why it exist?
- Does it feel like a cool reinterpretation, or just ’Meh’?

How were your Arcade experiences in the 90s?
Where I’m from, arcades were always tucked away at the end of some dark alley or through an archway and down the stairs into a dim basement. We used to hide our money in the socks, because there were often punks hanging around the entrance looking to rip someone off.
We always carried notebooks with us, because once we got inside, there was much more to do than just play. We watched others, studied their moves, and wrote down exactly what they pressed so we could figure out how certain tricks or secrets were done. One of the best examples was the Mortal Kombat series, which was packed with secrets like no other game.
We also played a lot of Final Fight where characters looked bigger than life!
Did you also go to arcades in the 80s/90s? How was it?
