Got misgendered for the first time as a cisgender BW

I work in a retirement home. However, this was not a resident lmao. I think she was an employee.

Anyway, I work as a cook. I was going to get me something to drink from the pop machine, and the lady passes me like:

"Excuse me? Sir?"

I turn around like 😳😳

She said:

"Oh ma'am, I'm sorry!"

This has never happened to me before. Mind you, my hair is in twists and I have a headwrap on. I never thought i looked masculine. Never been mistaken for a man before. However, I'm aware this happens to a lot of black women (Michelle Obama, for example). The lady was black, too. Ik she didn't mean anything by it, but I'm just shocked. 😭😭💀 idk how to feel.

Be careful during this heatwave, guys!!

I love how my body has flared up the past few days and then today at work, it decided:

"You know what? Let's make you feel like you're going to pass out even though you were fine all day!" 😔 plus, today was time and half at work! There goes my money. Smh. For context, I work in culinary as a cook. So hot kitchen, too.

I have IBS and already had to call in or leave early from my new job. I don't think the IBS has anything to do with this, though. I felt like hot, sweaty, and VERRYYY dizzy. I called my doctor and he told me to go home, but to have my parents pick me up. I'm still assuming it's from this heatwave.

Make sure y'all are careful! This has never happened to me in all of my years. Never left work cause I was overheating.

"You called out of work? Hope you won't get fired!"

Edit: I didn't think I had to explain this, but I KNOW that people get fired for their disabilities and illnesses all the time. My point is that we still need to prioritize our health and well being. My old boss was an asshole about my chronic illness to the point that he accused me of lying. So yes, I'm fully aware of this. But idk what else y'all can do? If you're sick or in pain, it is what it is. You need to take care of yourselves. 💙

Original Post:

I made a similar post about this a few days ago, stating that some people around me say how it's a "bad look" to call off early in my new job. I have IBS, but today, I had some bad period cramps (which is weird as I take birth control continously, so I rarely have periods/cramps now). So I had to call in. The manager literally said "ok" and that was that. We also have a point system, and my points are low. So I'm ok.

Anyway, after I called in, I took a nap. I missed my bf's call and he was concerned that I never returned the call. So he called again a few mins ago and I answered. He asked if I was OK or was I just busy at work. I explained that I was resting earlier cause I wasn't feeling well.

Then, he proceeds to say:

"Ok. I hope your bosses understand."

"They did. They just said 'ok' and that was that."

"Ok. I hope you won't get into trouble or anything."

Oh brotherrrr. 🫩 Dude. Not EVERY employer treats their staff like robots. Yes, I have worked for employers like that before that would get pissy about my disabilities. However, our health is what's most important at the end of the day. Even if one of my managers got mad at me, what can I do? I was sick. So I didn't go in. Oh also! It's a bad heat wave here and I work in a kitchen as a cook. So hot kitchen + heat wave + period cramps = I wanna die. 🤣🤣

It's just annoying when people (who don't have chronic illnesses) project their fears onto me. Like what are you trying to convince me of? To go into work no matter how sick I am? To prioritize work over my wellbeing? It doesn't help that my bf's bosses get pissy whenever someone has to call in cause they're short staffed. 🙄 so due to that, I feel like he projects it on to me. The fear mongering needs to fucking stop!

Anyone else feel judged for their disablity?

So I (25F) got diagnosed with IBS last year. It's very unpredictable. Like I'll be ok for weeks, then BOOM! Big flare up that has me stuck in bed or on the toilet lol.

Anyway, I started a new job last week. A few days ago, I had to call off cause I had a bad flare up the night prior. The place I work at gave me an accommodation for now of one day off a month without gaining a point for a call off. But other than that, you'd need a LOT of points to get fired. So either way, my job is safe. My mom was more understanding about it. My dad? He begins going on a lecture saying:

"I have FMLA. I haven't used it once in all of my years of working. Just because you have it doesn't mean you need to use it."

Um. Good for you???? What would the accommodations be for if not to, oh idk... accommodate you???

I had to leave a little early today cause of a flare up. I texted my parents letting them know I'm otw home cause I got off early (I live with them). They ask why. I said "They let me go early". My mom began asking "Why?? Is it slow?" Like I'm really trying to refrain from explaining it, because I don't need a lecture about MY HEALTH and prioritizing it over work. My parents swear I'll get fired for taking one day off or leaving early.

I worked pretty damn hard at my old job (very toxic btw) and I do at my current one. Idk why my parents act like I'm some kind of lazy POS when I'm just taking care of myself and they KNOW I'm good at my job. 😒

Issues with my poshmark app

Hey guys! I'm new to poshmark. I downloaded it yesterday cause I'm selling some heels I can't fit anymore. I uploaded them as "dropping soon". But then I changed my mind and decided that I wanted to drop them sooner. I cannot find the items in the closet section!! I used the "Dropping soon" filter and everything!

I reinstalled the app and checked on the actual website. Nothing! It also won't show the items I liked, either. Have any of y'all dealt with this? And if so, how'd you fix it?

I booked my first solo trip! Any other solo travelers here?

I've been wanting to do this since I was 19 years old. I'm now 25! I've done mini solo trips and solo dates for years. I really wanted to go on a trip this summer, but everyone I wanted to go with would be busy or not have enough money by then. So, I booked a weekend trip in Atlanta in July. I'm excited! I already know what places I wanna go to, and I am budgeting for this (I already have money saved for travel).

However, my mom is annoying about it. 😭 saying "It's dangerous to go alone" and "You should've asked someone to go with you". Um. No? That's the point of solo travel. Also, I have family down there that I was gonna visit, too. I'm not completely alone. The hotel I booked is within walking distance or a short uber ride from everything. Acting like Imma be in the cartel or something for going to Atlanta for 2 days. 🤣
