Hanging an axe with a full metal wedge

So I am at my dads place and he asked me to put a new handle on his axe but he only has a metal wedge (actual wedge, not the small cross wedges) instead of a wooden one. I never used a metal one, do you cut the excess handle sticking out the top before wedging? Normally i would put the wedge in and then cut it but that obviously doesn't work with a metal one. Do you just leave the rest sticking out? Do you still use glue with a metal wedge?

Btw I don't need anyone telling me a wooden one would be better, I would use one if I could get / make one but that's not possible right now

Reaper/Kontakt 8 midi notes suddenly not working

I just started experimenting with reaper and have zero clue what I am doing. Since a couple days I have problems when trying to create midi drums through Kontakt 8: Out of nowhere parts of the drum kit no longer work. A minute ago i was creating kick drum grooves, now the kick doesn't make a sound. Its always the same instruments, (kick, snare, some cymbals) while the rest still works. I tried googling the issue but nothing i found helped me out. I tried updating reaper and kontakt 8, no change. I tried resetting everything to do with tracks and routing, still no fix.

Has anyone experienced the same problem and knows how to fix it?

(I'm using the free version of deviant drums, in case that makes a difference)

local chatgpt-like setup

I have just started getting into the whole LLM stuff, using chat gpt to help me with creative inspiration and graphic design. I don't use it for anything commercial or actually important, i brew my own beer at home as a hobby and used it to design me some labels to go with it. I was wondering if i could manage to get a local setup for that use case, so far i have given chatgpt the info about the beer, like a name etc. and a design theme. I also give it some previous labels i created as a reference so they all fit together and that has worked pretty well. What would be the best approach to have this workflow on a local system?

Intro into Landscape Milky Way, let's hear your thoughts

First time trying a proper milky way nightscape. Any tips or critique? I am quite happy overall but would have loved a cleaner sky. I am also wondering if a light pollution filter would have improved this shot, any thoughts on that?

Gear used: Canon R5, Sigma 14mm F1.8

I took 20s exposures at ISO 6400 on a static tripod for the milky way, the foreground was a focus stack consisting of two images.

Stacked in sequator, used gimp to blend the stack and the foreground and lightroom for some final edits.

Energy calculations when moving heat from a colder to a warmer liquid

So first up before anyone mentions it: I only have a theoretical interest, I am aware that it would not be practical. I just had the thought and realized that my knowledge was not good enough to figure it out myself.

The question:
What would the energy calculations look like if I was trying to use my pc to heat up the boiler in my house? Lets say I was using a water cooling loop to cool my pc and use maybe a compressor or something to move the energy from the cooler water cooling loop to my boiler. (Not exactly sure how to do that, again my knowledge is limited) It does sound possible to me its kind of like what a fridge does, no?

Now what i am wondering is this: Would that use more or less energy than heating the boiler directly? The energy the pc is using up could be neglected in the energy input calculation as it is running either way and the heat would otherwise just go into the air. My intuition tells me that it would use less as there is already the energy that the pc puts out in the system but i am not sure if losses due to inefficiency would cancel it out

Problems with learning how to write/program drums

I have been a drummer for a long time and play fairly advanced stuff (Karnivool for example). Problem is that i have always struggled with sheet music and usually just learn drum parts by ear and feel. I am starting to write my owns stuff and i have run into a problem: When trying to program midi drums i can't get the stuff right. I have a groove or fill in my head but i just cant figure out if the hits are supposed to go on straight notes, triplets or dotted. How do you learn that? Any tips?

Sennheiser replacement?

I was using a pair of sennheiser momentum 2 true wireless for a few years now and I had actually loved them. Until they broke... it seems everyone is experiencing the same issues with sennheiser: For me it was charging problems first, then one earbud failed. Of course just after the warranty ended. I was thinking of replacing them with the momentum 4 version but it seems sennheiser still has the exact same problems in their new versions. Im confused as I use several other sennheiser products and always had a great experience and amazing quality. Anyways, would you recommend buying the momentum 4 or is there something different I should look at. I will list some of the things I liked or would like to improve over the momentum 2 so maybe that makes it easier to suggest something good:

- Sound quality: I loved the sennheisers, absolutely amazing
- Controls: Had nothing to complain. Not the best but didn't bother me
- Noise Isolation/ANC: Isolation itself was great but ANC didn't to anything. Better ANC would be nice
- Ease of use: I liked how the momentum 2 worked
- Battery: Was great at first, after a year or so it got worse and worse, a better battery would be great

If you have any experience with the momentum 4 true wireless or any other recommendations, i would love to hear it. Personally I do like sennheiser and do not wanna switch tbh but I would hate to buy something that probably fails after 2 years
