New South Indian vegetarian restaurant is now open next to Smart & Final at 3129 Walnut Ave. The prices seem reasonable but the music is so loud. Some people might be upset that one more Indian restaurant has opened but relative to the South Asian population of Fremont, there is still room for many more Indian food options. Most Indian restaurants serve the same type of food.
This is finally open now. Another coffee and tea spot hut this is different. This is a combination of a coffee & tea shop and sushi restaurant across from Ohlone College on Mission Blvd. The place is milk tea, coffee and sushi menu. Cute decor.
Tri City Voice newspaper is ignoring one of the largest category that is growing. No Indian Restaurants category included in the survey or maybe not a single vote was casted for any Indian restaurant. Strange or the editors of Fremont’s LOCAL newspaper is out of touch or trying really hard to ignore the ground reality of the demographics that it earns advertising dollars from.
Taco Bell …. Yes that’s right…. Taco Bell is replacing Carl’s Jr that just closed down at Warm Springs Plaza (Ranch 99 shopping Center) at the corner of Warm Springs Blvd and Mission Blvd. The pad will be split into two spot. Teriyaki City Grill will take one-third of the space and TB will occupy the rest and will have a drive-thru.
This franchise has over 100 locations. This is near the Thornton Ave and Fremont Blvd intersection. There is parking in the back.
New coffee shop with smoothies and ice cream bar coming to Irvington next to Round Table Pizza at 40823 Fremont Blvd. Fremont had become a magnet for coffee shops! Look out for my postings for three more coffee shops that are coming to Fremont.
The Thali Co will be taking over the current spot of Spices at 1616 Washington Blvd. The concept will be all you can eat vegetarian food from Western India.
Amrutha Vilas, a vegetarian restaurant will be opening at the old site of Honey Baked Ham store at 4959 Mowry Ave. Amrutha Vilas has two locations in San Ramon and Tracy. This will be there first in Fremont.
Innovation District/East Industrial will have its own South Asian grocery store, Namaste Plaza, at the corner of Old Warm Spring Blvd and S. Grimmer Ave. There is an underground parking lot (15-20 spots only though!). Namaste Plaza is known for fresh veggies, fruits and spices. The developer was hoping to bring a coffee shop but the spot is too big. Across the street, there is a plan for a four-star hotel with a conference center. Haters gonna hate but this neighborhood’s majority population is young, well-educated Indian professionals and the area really needed a grocery store.
Mikiya is taking over the Red Lobster spot next to Foodmaxx at Fremont Blvd and Walnut Ave corner. It’s an all-you-can-eat wagyu shabu chain restaurant that is very popular.

Coming soon - STAR MART a New grocery store at the former CVS site on Driscoll & Paseo Parkway. Construction has already started.
Tee & Timber “soft-opened” near Stevenson Blvd & 880 Seems bit pricey but maybe Fremont is becoming little hip as stay-at-home-tech-bros-n-sis can now escape home and have some fun without driving all the way to San Jose.

New coffee shop concept with chocolate based deserts and crepes and premium coffee drinks is coming to 3954 Mowry Ave, Fremont. It will be at Fremont Plaza on Mowry Ave and Fremont Blvd (right next to Starbucks) where Chaat Cafe used to be at. I seriously feel left behind now on the coffee shop gravy train!

Barnes & Noble opening at Pacific Commons in November 2026
The bookstore will be located at 43598 Christy St., and is slated to open in Fremont's Pacific Commons Shopping Center in November, according to Barnes & Noble's website. The space formerly housed DSW, which has since moved to a smaller site within the shopping center. It had been seasonally used as a Spirit Halloween shop.
There are over 100 coffee & tea posts around Fremont and this town probably has the most coffee and tea shops in East Bay! Another ten shops have opened since last update.
Starbucks still rules the market.
Two more Yemeni coffee shops are under construction. Delah and Sanaa Coffee have yet to disclose their Fremont locations.
Five Vietnamese coffee shops have opened in last two years. Very trendy.
Over fifty boba shops! No surprise there…
Dutch Bros coming to Warm Springs but have not disclosed their Fremont location yet. Could be the BK location!

After smashing success of Delah and Qamaria in the area, ajither Yemeni coffee shop is coming. It will takeover the former Starbucks site at Hacienda on Dublin Blvd.
The construction is almost complete and it is now hiring. It is across from Irvington High School (old Bronco Billy’s Pizza spot) at the corner of Grimmer and Blacow. Fremont has over 90 coffee & tea spots! Monasaba Cafe is very popular in Canada.
Starbird Chicken will occupy Boston Market site next to Jamba Juice at the corner of Fremont Blvd and Mowry Ave.
