Anyone know any hiking/walking trails in the East Bay with nice scenery that are ~flat?
The last five or six trails I've been on have all had super steep long sections and I'm tired of that. Any suggestions on trails of a few miles or so that are mostly level, and aren't just a bike path in an urban area?
Neck Wrinkle Treatments
Hi everyone! My neck wrinkles have been getting much more noticeable lately and I’m wondering if anyone has recommendations for providers in the East Bay that offer effective treatments. I’d also love to hear what treatments you’ve had the best results with for reducing the appearance of neck lines.
I know it’s a normal part of aging,l but it’s really been affecting my confidence lately. I’d appreciate any recommendations or personal experiences. Thank you!
East Bay residents, what should I look for when choosing a personal injury lawyer?
I'm helping a family member after a recent accident, and we're trying to find a personal injury lawyer in the East Bay or nearby. The more I research, the more every firm seems to sound the same, so it's hard to know who actually provides good representation. I came across Choulos, Choulos & Wyle during my search, but I'd much rather hear from people who've had firsthand experience with local attorneys.
If you've gone through a personal injury case, what should we pay attention to before hiring someone? Were there any firms that impressed you because of their communication, honesty, or how they handled the case? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

AC Transit raises fares, begins crackdown on fare evasion
AC Transit implemented the second phase of a 25-cent fare adjustment Wednesday. Riders will now pay $2.75 for local single-ride fares using Clipper or contactless payment and $3 with cash, increased from $2.50 and $2.75, respectively.
The completion of the adjustment marks the first time the transit district has increased fares since 2019. The first phase of the fare adjustment took place in July 2025 and saw the local adult cash fare increase from $2.50 to $2.75, as well as the Transbay cash fare increase from $6 to $6.50.
While AC Transit could potentially cut $53 million from its operating budget if the passage of a transportation sales tax fails in November, the fare hikes are unrelated. According to AC Transit’s spokesperson Robert Lyles, the adjustments were approved before the COVID-19 pandemic, but their implementation was paused to ease the financial burden on riders.

extra special shout out to Mimi Lien (scenic design) and Bradley King (lighting design) as per social media sharing policy requests to credit theater and designers in photos
I heard about Lunchbox from somebody on this subreddit and I just wanted to express gratitude and appreciation for this show and also hope that somebody with a lot of money to invest in theater is reading this post and wants to bring this to New York. if this happens, I will gladly buy tickets again for me, friends, and family.
Before I say more, a hot take: I have now seen four Rachel Chavkin plays, and Hadestown is my least favorite of her work and a work that I think expresses her talents least well. (My other two, for those who want to fight me: Reconstructing at BAM and The Great Comet.) I find Chavkin’s style cozy and quirky, almost like she wants to create experiences that make you want to take off your shoes and curl up on the theater seat as if you were watching this at home or just for you. This musical felt that for me - it was an experience before anything else.
I won’t say too much about the story other than it is family friendly and hopeful with a mild trigger warning about a subplot that relates to suicide. Nothing is graphic and no developed characters die by suicide during the story, but I did want to mention it because it was the only part of the musical that felt off to me - I think they should cut one song and subplot that didn’t really lead anywhere.
I loved the South Asian setting, representation, and inspired music. This play felt engaged in the five senses. Choreography was clever and surprisingly modern and experimental without detracting from story.
Though the story is optimistic, I thought it covered some heavy moments (minus the suicide sub plot, which again I didn’t find necessary) with grace and presence.
fingers crossed there is more life in this production. it’s in berkeley thru mid July for anybody else making their way out here.

Queer Friendly Barber/Braider?
Hello, I have a friend who just moved to CA and the East Bay and is looking a trans-friendly barber that may also do braids? I get that’s may be a bit of a tall order so separate recommendations would be welcome. Thank you in advance!
Coolest temps in summer and fall
Which EB or adjacent city (but not SF) has the lowest temps in summer and fall? Vallejo? Most breezes? Cool nights? Fewest record highs? Thank you
Hercules High teacher told Latino student she would support his deportation if he was 'illegal'
richmondside.orgSix months in on the SF to Lafayette commute, what I got right and wrong about it
Moved to Lafayette last spring from Noe Valley after about ten years in the city. Commuting to SoMa two days a week. Here is what I thought was going to be true vs what turned out to be true.
What I was right about: 35-40 minutes door to office on BART when it works, which is most of the time. Less expensive than I expected when you factor out the cost of owning a car in SF.
What I got wrong: parking at Lafayette station fills by 7:30 and there is genuinely no good overflow option close by. If I don't leave by 7:15 I'm driving to Orinda station instead. Also I underestimated how much of my lifestyle was proximity-based in the city. None of that is gone, it just requires a car and planning.
School quality is as advertised.
