Recommendations for Independent/Senior Living Condos

I searched the sub so my apologies if this has been asked recently, but...

I've started researching Senior condos in the East Bay for my mom (who is 80 and currently living alone in a house out of state). My sister and I want to move her into a community condo where she can engage in activities with other seniors, have meals provided at least once a day, be driven to the occasional Dr. appointment, etc. She has a dog so a condo in a quieter, safe neighborhood where she can take walks would be ideal. I live in Oakland and a place near BART further in the East Bay (i.e. Lafayette) would work as well.

So far, I've only toured Merrill Gardens in Rockridge. For those of you with a parent living in an independent/assisted living community, what suggestions or recommendations do you have? We're well aware of how pricey these condos can be so something reasonable, but worth the amenities is preferred.

Feel free to DM me if you prefer. Thanks all!

Edit: Meant to include Assisted after / in the title.

Heads up! Fake website for The Ordinary

This unfortunately happens a lot, but always check the url when buying online. A website for the The Ordinary came up at the top of an online search today and I noticed everything was on sale, the logo was pixelated, and the website included "sell" after theordinary in the url. I was almost ready to checkout when I stumbled upon a different website (the real one!) I have reported the fraudulent one to the FTC which you should always do if you question a website's legitimacy at https://reportfraud.ftc.gov/. It takes two minutes to report.

Here's The Ordinary's real website: https://theordinary.com/en-us

I found a beautiful beaded earring on 14th street near the main library. It looks handmade. Message me if it's yours.

Edit #2 - You've all provided me with a lot of recommendations to follow up on. Thank you!

Alas, my dentist in SF closed his practice last year and sent my records to Post Street Dental in Union Square. This weekend I discovered a break in a molar which quickly got infected and needed immediate attention. Post Street couldn't get me in (even in an emergency), so I looked elsewhere. An Oakland dentist was able to see me yesterday and I was able to get a root canal. They were really accommodating and the procedure went very well, but.... I don't have dental "insurance" and it cost me A LOT out of pocket! I still need to get a crown over this tooth which will set me back more $$$$.

With that, I'm still shopping around. If you have a dentist who's reasonable, does great work, doesn't try to upsell you, and is accommodating in any situation - please do tell!

Thanks, Oakland fam! 😁
