EVSC Custodial is hiring

Details:

2nd shift, 2:45-11:15pm

$20.06 starting (I believe)

Union

Insurance

15 PTO/Sick days a year

2 Weeks vacation starting

15 paid Holidays a year

Paid Snow days

Match retirement up to a certain %

I've been doing it since May. It's super easy work, get a nice pair of shoes and headphones and you basically just empty trash from classrooms, clean the bathrooms, and vacuum rooms. Yea there's a bit more than that, but that's the gist of it. Time flies and I get around 20k steps in a day so if you want to lose a few lbs it's great for that.

Predatory Credit Cards... Read the fine print.

Bankrupted 4 years ago. All is good now. I make 42k a year, house is paid off, car is paid off, all I have is mandatory bills.

I decided to get a CC from Ollo. 29.5% APR on a $1500 card because my credit score is garbage and I just want to raise it. I treat it like a debit card. I only use it for gas and groceries and pay it off every paycheck.

Then I decided "well I'll set up autopay and just pay in full", I'm financially responsible so I'm good. I know I'll have the money in my bank acct.

I'm sitting at a 0 balance and got a bill for $27 for using autopay. It's in the fine print, but I didn't realize it. It's crazy that a company would charge you for autopay, but that's the way of these predatory companies. Call it ignorance or stupidity, but I'm glad I caught it. I called and got it taken off and dropped the autopay w/zero charges. But as someone making 42k a year, that's almost 1.5/hrs of work just to pay them to, well, pay them.

So for people wanting to rebuild their credit, much like myself, read everything. These predatory companies will do everything they can to steal just a few dollars from you. Imagine already paying nearly 30% interest and then a fee just to pay them.

Please be careful with these predatory lenders.

Just a head's up, if you max out a $1500 credit card and only pay the minimum payment, it will cost you $3,965 in total at 29.5% APR.

If you can't afford something at $1500, you definitely can't afford $4k.

School starts Monday so I'm having a 3 day weekend.

I worked my ass off the last couple of weeks because teachers are moving in and doing their shit that they pull. Tons of heavy lifting getting rid of their stuff they no longer want, then decide they do want it so bring it back in, then well nah go ahead and take it, and I just have to do it with a smile or they get butthurt.

My house has just been neglected because the last thing I want to do is move after I get home. Everything fucking hurts.

Today it's a me day, in between laundry and the dishwasher I am finally getting my house back in order. I'm ready to get back to daily work.

Does anyone else tell the other "cool" custodians about this sub?

I've been working with floaters for quite some time now but it seems like no one I work with knows this sub exist, even tho a lot of the cooler ones have Reddit accounts. I even told them my ridiculous username and they laugh and just say "fucking that fits bro" because they get to know me. I let them know this sub exist, and I hope they join up because they're cool af, but it's crazy how small this community is. I mean outta the 20-30 floaters in my district I'm the only mf here.

What's everyone averaging steps per work week?

I know it's summer work for 99% of us, but I was looking at my track record over the year and saw that I am averaging 14k steps per day and that's with the weekends where I basically just exist. I believe I put in 17-20k steps per day at work, which equates to about 8.5 miles per day.

With summer work, it's less walking and more repetitive cleaning re-hashing but I feel like this job is really helping me get healthier.
