Who else amongst the Gen Jones generation likes the self checkout lines and ATMs to bank tellers?

I don't like making fake small talk. Too many times tellers and check out clerks are trying to sell additional services or get people to sign up for affinity cards.

I live in a state that outlawed disposable bags and even if you go to a regular checkout line, you still have to bag your own stuff. I prefer being able to take care of it at my pace instead of have to hurry so the clerk can send the next customer's purchases down the conveyor.

Amazon Prime app no longer works. I can't reinstall it either.

Is anybody else having a problem? The screen would be blank (except for the menu icons on the left side) when I opened the app so I did the usual first step recommend by IT support people. I deleted the app and have tried to reinstall it but for the past couple hours, the indicator has been spinning.

I watched an episode of The Librarians last night but when the episode ended, the blank screen is all I got. As I mentioned above, I did get the menu icons but they didn't respond when clicked.

Scammers are now trying to use country codes to fool people

I got this text earlier today. My cell phone number is a New York number but I don't live there. Notice how the number starts with 212, which is the area code for New York City. I counted the digits (there were 12 but I cut off the last four) and knew that it wasn't from a U.S. number. A few seconds of Google revealed that 212 is the country code from Morocco. (Maybe the scammer have been in this group and found out that people recognize 63 as the country code for The Philippines.)

The text goes on to provide a website newyorkstatepolice. hv75 .vip (there's more and I added spaces to make sure nobody accidentally clicks the link.) The rest of the text added that you had to go to the link, respond with a "Y" to get the next link to get to the scammer's website.

Count the digits in the scammer phone number. Also, no law enforcement agency initiates contact via text.

Scammers are changing countries

I deleted the last four digits. Note how many digits the number has. In the US, there would only be 10 (or 11 if the country code "1" is shown). This scammer thinks that by using the 212 country code of Morocco he/she/it can fool people into believing the text is from a New York City area code. (My cell phone has a New York area code but not the 212.)

A couple more mistakes. The NY state ticket enforcement would come from an area code upstate. Also, I received this today, May 21, 2026. How could I respond before today?

I don't live in New York and haven't taken my car into the state since last summer.

Two retired New York businessmen run into each other in Florida.

After the usual greetings, the second one asked the first guy "What happened to your business?" The first guy answers "Competition started eating into my profits. There was a fire that destroyed the business so I decided to take the insurance money and retire. What about your business?" The second guy says "Similar to you but I had a flood destroy my business." The first man asks "How do you arrange a flood?"
