Impressed by the BB54, disappointed by Grand Seiko

So today I went in and looked at a few Grand Seikos, the Black Bay GMT and the BB 54. Out of all of these, the 54 really blew me away. The proportions and the way it wears on the wrist just felt so good for me. I'd love to hear from people who have had theirs for more than a few years, in terms of how well it's held up. Also: does anybody know if the Jubilee bracelet that was announced for the 58 is going to come over to the 54? I'm aware that you can get it with the ice blue dial, but that one's not for me.

*

Separately, and maybe this isn't right for this sub but what I wasn't expecting was how much of a let-down the Grand Seikos felt.

I should start by saying for context: the dealer was getting ready to remove Grand Seiko from their lineup, and so the ones that he showed me were poorly presented, just kind of tossed together in a box ready to be shipped back.

Despite that, they seemed somehow cheap to me. I struggled to discern a difference with the Zaratsu polishing, it didn't really seem that much different to any other well-polished piece. I did think that a Shunbun or a White Birch were gonna be a must-have and to be fair, I didn't actually get to see either of those particular pieces.

Curious if anyone else has had a similar experience to me, or if I was just unfortunate and saw them poorly presented in a bad light by a dealer that didn't care?

Misleading Subscription Package Warning

Posting this so nobody else gets caught the way I did.

I signed up to NOW TV thinking I was on the standard rolling membership. Monthly billing, cancel whenever, the way every streaming service on earth works. Turns out I'm on something called a 'minimum term' plan. Same monthly billing, same monthly price, but you're actually locked in for a fixed period and your cancellation does not take effect until the term ends.

I asked NOW directly. Here's their reply word for word:

'Yes you will be charged on Monthly basis However you have signed up for Minimum term. Minimum term means that unlike with our usual cancel anytime membership where you're free to cancel from month to month, you're signing up for a fixed period. If you cancel during your minimum term, your cancellation won't take effect until your plan ends.'

At no point during sign-up was this made obvious to me. The price looked like a standard monthly price. The billing is monthly. The word 'contract' did not flash up in neon. And now I'm on the hook for months of payments for a service I want to cancel today.

Please, before you sign up to anything from NOW TV, go through every screen with a magnifying glass and check whether you are being put onto a 'minimum term' plan or the genuine rolling one. The difference is buried and the cost of missing it is significant.

If anyone has successfully got out of one of these early, I'd love to hear how.

Had my RS660 for about a year now. Absolutely love this thing. Light, flickable and fun. Maybe a little too happy to go a little too fast, but that’s on me.

So I've played about a billion games on the mobile app, and I had a weird one tonight. I had a really nice set up in the grasslands and was looking forward to absolutely rinsing everybody's slugs. Yet, for the first time ever, I had a bug where the game was skipping.

Normally, the order of play goes from right to left and moves across the cards. What was happening was that the red back shrike would come up, I would steal a slug, and then it would skip to the blue throat. I wouldn't be able to do the repeat of Brown Power on either of my catbird or mockingbirds, and I also wouldn't get the hummingbirds' berry.

Has anyone else ever encountered anything like this where a glitch has made the order of play skip? Sorry for the rather torturous way of explaining this. It's a tricky one to explain. If anyone has any thoughts about where to submit this or get the attention of the developers, I'd love to know.
