If Dan Gilbert walked down and fired Atkinson tonight, it wouldn’t be an overreaction.

Runs and collapses happen. But I’ve never seen a coach do nothing and openly behave so helpless. The players feed off that.

Mentally, the Cavs are done. There’s no recovering from this loss.

I bet Atkinson and his family, who are native Long Islanders many of whom still live in NY, are pleased.

As a neutral, I was so disgusted and appalled I turned off the TV. I can’t imagine being a Cavs fan.

If you guys decide to burn down the town, I might drive over and join you.

That was by for the absolute worst coaching job I’ve ever seen in a game. And I’ve been watching basketball since 2003.

I’ve seen teams go on runs vs a collapsing opponent. That happens. But I’ve never seen a coach make absolutely no adjustments whatsoever during a run.

To not call a timeout at all during an 18-1 run, erasing a 22 point lead in the 4th quarter with under 8 minutes left…

To allow for every PnR to be switched so a 37yo Harden is iso’d on an island with Brunson is not even coaching. It’s malpractice. Knicks just spammed the same play.

This is a loss that you cannot allow. And it’s going to be so demoralizing that the Cavs will lose the series.

Atkinson just had his mouth agape and a flabbergasted look.

It’s so so bad, that legitimately there are fans in the Cavs subreddit wondering if those close to Atkinson bet under on the spread. After all, he grew up and Long Island and has family there still - the broadcast mentioned seven brothers in attendance.
