"Over Hill and Under Hill" on 4 hours?

Heya!

I've asked my local ttrpg association what games they'd like to discover and they've landed on TOR, so here I am looking for a 4-hour one shot.

They're either pretty seasoned ttrpg players, or at least familiar enough to skip the first step of what an rpg is, so here I am looking for a scenario to run as a GM.

I've had my hands on the starter set for a whlle, but it says that it's more of a small campaign. I've read it through but it seems that with a good tempo it COULD work, but I wouldn't want to rush it too much.

What's the consensus on this set in terms of length for 4-5 players?

If you have other recommendations after a years of being published, I'd be happy to take a look at other midules. Thanks very much!

Suggestions for a short campaign

Heya !

I'll probably be starting a 3-session campaign for 3-4 players, mostly new to Delta Green and hopefully the same players each time.

My wish is to provide a first experience of what the essence of Delta Green is, in a timeline around 2010s. To do so, i aim to lean in :

- the conspiracy aspect. By the middle of the campaign, I'd love for the characters to trust no one, especially not "The Programme", even having doubts on some of their bonds. I'm not 100% bulletproof on the lore, but I'd like to have a moment where another group is on their tail / vice versa, and meet some Outlaws to have a "Are we the baddies ?" moment

- opposing forces. Having rewatched Fringe not that long ago, I'd also like to incoporate (no pun intended) an equivalent of Boston Dynamics, which could be March Tech or some other group from The Labyrinth, as a recurring antagonist or at least another entity with their own agenda

- the descent. Since we'll have 3 sessions that'll last 4 hours, I was thinking of moving the timeline forward between sessions, with a shorter jump everytime, that make the characters progress towards a resolution that will inevitably be asking the ultimate price. I could also "cut" some sessions into smaller investigations are field scenes to have multiple home scenes, tying the ongoing "bigger picture / investigation" and its consequences into their daily lives

I've ran for a previous group Last Things Last, the Last Equation and a homemade scenario that was inspired by / ended with Metamorphosis, so I could reuse some of those.

Maybe the starting point could be Last Things Last again, but having more questionable intel at the end to kick off the campaign ?

I was also thinking of generating customizable pre-gen character to make sure that they have ties to later events in the campaign.

Thanks you for your interest, and I'd be glad to have suggestions, ideas and feedbacks from the community on how to design such a projet.

Vineyard shenneningans

Heya!

One of my party member is from Southern Aundair, where her family holds a somewhat prestigious vineyard.

Planning ahead a quiet interlude back home to take a breather from saving the world, I'm wondering what kind of encounters, problems or small quests could await the party upon arrival.

Any suggestion? Cheers!

Autres noms pour la classe d'artificier

Hello hello !

Merci beaucoup !

Portrait maker for a tournament

Heya !

Long story short, I'm brining Heat,Pedal to the Metal on vacation, planning to run a championship over the course of the week with 4-5 other players. To add to the fun, I was thinking of having a "session 0" where each player craft their driver with a funny portrait to get in the shoes and invent a background and whatnot.

I don't want to use AI nor push people to draw. I thought of maybe some sort of Mr Potato thing to cut and assemble on a paper, for instance a couple of mouths, a couple of noses, some haircut etc and you chose your own.

It would have to take no more than 5min with everything printed out and cut in advance (i'd do it) to focus on the "assembly". Has anyone any idea where to find such components ? Cheers !

Fantasy treasure hunt in the office

Heya !

Not sure if that's a bullseye sub for this kind of request, but i'm confident that it's a gold mine for ideas.

Basically, I'm planning on setting up a treasure hunt for a colleague during her holiday break. The base lore is that there is a "manifest zone" in her office, connecting it to the feywild, and the fae tricksters are in dire need of her help for some stuff to go home, and they'll reward her for it. I've translated the office layout into a drawn fantasy map, with places like the office for IT and PR as the "School of Wizardry", the HR boss office as the "hag hut", the annex office as the "forgotten ruins", the big boss' office as the "sorcerer's tower" etc.

I've got a basic structure for some riddles and puzzles (finding parts from a QR code leading to a clue, some Caesar cipher decoding, a key to a locked cabinet...) but would love to hear ideas from the community. Of course, everything has to be done stealthily as nobody's involved in this (if it works and gets good feedback, i might involve more people in a broader edition).

Cheers and have a nice day !

(Tail campaign) Eternal Lies and PCs ties

Heya !

I've made session 0 for the Eternal Lies with 3 players, using the Alexandrian remix. We used the pregens and they've chosen Dr Paul Udko, Dr Evelyn Malley and Cora King.

In the book there are ties to the "quest giver" for a few of the pregens, but not all of them.

For those who have run the campaign, how would you link those pregens to the overaul plot ?

For Paul Udko, it's quite easy as he was Mr Winston's therapist for a while, and never cracked the case. The player can totally play that side of "my scientific curiosity will bring to me places I shouldn't go".

For Cora King, I stated that Janet Winston-Rogers has been some sort of benefactor / patron for the young, tough girl. I would love to tie it further, since her parents died and she was sent to an orphenage : what characters from the campaign could be her true parents ? That could be cool reveal.

For Dr Evelyn Malley, the original background is that her infant died of malformation after a couple of weeks, she divorced her housband as she buried herself in studies. What ties to the campaign could she have ? That's the one i'm the most struggling with.

Thanks a lot for your time and help !

My BBEG needs a massive logistics network for his plan, and I'm planning on giving my players a picture of said network at the upcoming end of Act 1 of our campaign.

I was thinking of something such as a magical ledger, maybe the initial work of a joint-venture between Houses Sivis and Orien (since the BBEG already has a renegade member of house Orien in his pocket), but i'd be happy to brainstorm.

The goal of this item lore-wise would be to follow up and manage routes, stocks, shipments etc in semi-real time. Sending stones with other effects maybe ?

The goal as a mcguffin would be to give the player a sense of dread when they'll realise the size of the operation, and give them 3 different spots to go to and investigate in a more open Act 2.
