Expensive cars turning into cheap cars - Here is why.

Hey all,

Due to increased questions about cars turning into cheap cars (Civics, Ladas, etc.), I figured I'd go ahead and explain why this is happening. I received this information from the CPM2 developer when I lost one of my cars.

What happens?

When a car changes into a cheap car, it means the original car was hacked into the game. To make this easier to understand, I'll use example vehicles. The expensive car will be a BMW 7 series, and the cheap car will be a Honda Civic.

When you obtain the BMW, you see the BMW. It is only after a while that this changes into the Honda. This might be after restarting the game, after logging into your account again, or randomly. Any vinyls (logos, liveries) or upgrades (engine swaps, engine modifications, air suspension) that were applied to the BMW, now show up on the Honda.

Why does this happen?

While you may think you purchased the BMW, according to the game, you purchased the Honda from the start. All modifications you think you made, were being added to the Honda. The initial hacker covered the Honda with the BMW, and traded it away.

How do you avoid this?

Unfortunately, it is not possible to avoid this when trading in public rooms. It just happens sometimes. With private sales, you may ask to see a receipt, but that still is not watertight.

Note - This is different than the pink Lada that sometimes pops up.

Middle man service

Hey all,

I am excited to announce the official Middle Man service is returning - Just slightly different. Below is the reworked MM service, which should keep working with Reddit's new ideas about identifying users. The explanation for this has been posted here. I initially was not planning on working around this nonsense, but the sub's safety is rather important to me, so I'll see how this goes.

For 2:1 trades, I will be available again to take the extra car, and sell it to the recipient after the trade.

That way, 2 users only trade together and I will take care of the extra car. If for whatever reason the trade doesn't continue as planned, the car will be returned to its owner.

Note: I am not responsible for deals falling through, cars not being as promised or anything that is not in my power to fix. I am also not responsible for scams that happened due to me being unavailable to be a Middle Man.

If you have gotten scammed through either r/CarParkingMultiplayer or r/CPM2, DM me with proof. If you are not able to DM me, use Mod mail.

Do not trust other people who claim to be me. People that can be trusted can be added to the list of official r/CPM2 middle men, but currently it is just me who is running the official r/CPM2 Middle Man Service. If you wish to use this service, send me, u/Gderacer, a message with:

  1. The cars involved

  2. The people involved

Only 1 user needs to message me. If for whatever reason neither of you are able to DM me, comment under this post. I will then attempt to open a DM with both of the users. Always make sure both users have contacted me about the specific trade - that way there is no way someone who is impersonating me will take your cars.

Do not use Mod Mail to request a Middle Man Service!

In regards to my DM situation

Hey all,

As noticed by quite a few of you, my DMs are disabled, and my profile is hidden. This is not my choice, but Reddit's decision.

Reddit demands users where I live to verify their age by either uploading a real ID, or allowing a face scan. Reddit does not currently have a legal obligation for this, but they are testing the feature in case it will be required by law. Unfortunately, it seems I am part of the testing group.

For obvious reasons, I will not be sending my real ID to Reddit. A third party is used to verify a user's identity and age, and this is not something I agree with. If that means having less access to Reddit - so be it.

What this means for r/CarParkingMultiplayer and r/CPM2, I'm not sure. At this time, I don't know if/to what extent this will affect the quality of my moderation. I don't know if Reddit hides stuff from me, though I am working on figuring this out.

The main thing that is relevant for this subreddit is that my DMs are now closed, meaning scam reports will need to be filed differently. I will be adjusting this post accordingly, as well as all messages that state that users may contact me. Users who already have a chat open with me, should be able continue sending me their reports. Other users may need to resort to Mod Mail.

Furthermore, the Middleman service I offered has been discontinued. When users are no longer allowed to message me, it is practically impossible to guarantee safety, and I'm not going to put the community at risk. It is also not worth using Mod Mail for this, as Mod Mail should only be used for reports/appeals/moderator decisions.

Reddit's decision if disabling these features might be temporary. If the features return at some point, these changes may all be reversed. If not, I'll see what steps must be taken for r/CarParkingMultiplayer and r/CPM2.

Hopefully this post answers all questions about my profile.
