Hi all, hope you don’t mind the question here. I’m trying to figure out if working freelance would be possible for me. For some background, I’m looking into making a change from IT to AV (I know I’m not the first to say this). I’ve been doing IT for 7 years (I’m a manager now) and I’m trying to get the hell away from office support. I know there’s some overlap between both fields, and while I have gained some AV experience through my current job, I certainly have plenty of room to grow some more.

Anyway, I actually had an interview with a local AV company (live production) about a week ago but sadly I didn’t make the cut. Unsure whether it was the interview or surprise math quiz that did me in lol. With that opportunity out the window, there aren’t many AV job openings in my area to pursue it seems (even for a big city in SoFlo). So, I was wondering if becoming an AV freelancer would be the next best option for me? Like I said, I have some AV experience but I have no idea if it would be enough to get by, though I can certainly try. I have my Dante Levels 1 and 2 certs and I’m hoping to start working on Q-Sys next. I’m determined to make this work somehow. Any advice or tips will be greatly appreciated. Thanks for your time.

Hi all! I try not to dwell on Banana Ball debates, but since it sort of involves the Party Animals, I figured I’d ask about it here lol. For some context, this weekend the Bananas are wearing a specialty jersey that can only be purchased at the Eugene games. I don’t really know anything about the University of Oregon or why these particular games warrant a unique uniform, but the unveiled jersey is green.

I don’t want to accidentally hype this up as some massive controversy that’s going to bring Banana Ball crashing down lol, but it’s def made some Party Animals fans upset (at least on IG / FB). Since this is a PA headliner, some people feel it would’ve made more sense for the PAs to get the specialty uniform instead, especially since green is already part of their color scheme. Personally, I think it’s kinda dumb to borrow the colors of another team because now they’re going to have Banana fans wearing green jerseys at future games when it’s supposed to represent the Party Animals. That’s just my own gripe though. It seems like the frustration runs a bit deeper for other PA fans, with a few claiming there’s strong favoritism towards the Bananas even when they’re not the headlining team. I’ve only been a Banana Ball fan for about a year and a half, so I’m still catching up on all the lore.

So, what do you all think? Are the criticisms warranted? Or is it just an overreaction? Also, any insight on why this weekend at the UO is extra special? Can’t wait for tonight’s game!
