[Review] My review on 6 lips balms as someone on Accutane with chapped lips.

I'm on 40mg of Accutane and suffer from very dry and chapped lips, below are all the lip balms I've tried and rated from best to worse.

  1. Mentholatum for dry and chopped lips: I brought one of this when visiting Hong Kong in a random convenience store for less than $2, it is by far the best I've used and the most soothing, longest lasting and fastest acting for my chapped lips, I only need to apply it 3-4 times to get through a day. It's also the least oily of the bunch which is crazy. It's almost invisible in terms of feel and smell. I've been using it everyday for the last 2 months, I went back to Hond Kong just to stock up on this lip balm. Highly recommend. 10/10
  2. Vaseline: It's the cheapest of the bunch and works flawlessly, when used regularly my lips never become chapped, lasts pretty long (at least a few hours) and when used on chapped lips it is able to return my lips to normal in less than 30 mins. No fragrance. The downside is that it is very oily and you will notice it on your lips. I use it every evening for more than half a year. Highly Recommend 8/10
  3. ISDIN Acniben Repair: Recommended by my dermatologist, it doesn't last very long. When used regularly my lips sometimes still become chapped, and when used on my chapped lips it sometimes takes multiple applications in order for my lips to return to normal, and can take upwards of a few hours. It has a very strong and sweet fragrance that imo suits girls more than boys, in terms of oiliness it is in the middle of the pack. I've used it for around 2 months. 5.5/10
  4. La Roche Posay Cicaplast Levres: Literally the same as ISDIN Acniben Repair, but it doesn't have a fragrance and is more oily. I was pretty disappointed as this was widely recommended on Reddit. I've used it for around 4 months. 5/10
  5. Lanolips 101 Ointment Multi-Balm Banana Cream Pie: It's also the same as ISDIN Acniben Repair in terms of effectiveness, however I rated this the lowest because it's the most expensive one on this list, this was also widely recommended by Reddit but I was very disappointed with their performance. They do have a variety of options for fragrances though. Photo unavailable as I've already thrown it away. I've used it for around 2 weeks. 4.5/10
  6. Nivea Lip Balm: Used for 1 week, doesn't even work, don't bother. 1/10

From my experience the expensive ones are just not worth it, and the more expensive they are, the more you're paying for the brand value and marketing.
