Help

So I'm working on a manga and there is a big part of the manga where the main character fights aliens in like a Bakugan/Yu-Gi-Oh/ Pokémon battle using Yokai and I was thinking if you can give me a idea on how the Yokai would attack so it's not like Pokémon with like use water gun or something like that but that it's unique and not to Pokémon like or just monsters fighting

My Idea

The manga follows a young adult called Hyakki who got born into a Family who´s job it is to protect Japan from aliens. Instead of fighting a group of aliens he solos out one and captures them and following his familys moto that you only have to kill when you have to. So he fights them using a pokemon type battle using yokai and cryptids. If the aliens wins instead of killing them Hyakki wipes their memorys and turns them into humans. If they dont win the battle Hyakki brutally murders them

My manga pitch

Hey everyone! I’m currently developing a concept for a manga that blends Sci-Fi, Supernatural, and dark Psychological Horror. I wanted to share the core premise to see what you guys think of the hook and the stakes.

Aliens have secretly invaded Earth. To fight them, our Main Character, Hyakki, hunts them down and forces them into a strict, supernatural turn-based game.

  • The Gear: Hyakki uses a summoning device heavily inspired by vintage Super Sentai morphers. Instead of transforming him, the device allows him to summon trapped, physical Yokai to fight for him.
  • The Illusion of Choice: Before the match begins, Hyakki actually lets the aliens choose their own summoning devices from a collection to fight against him, making them think they have a fair, sporting chance.
  • The Game: The battles play out like a tactical tabletop "toy battler" (think dark Bakugan or Yu-Gi-Oh! Shadow Games) inside a locked, holographic arena.
  • The Asymmetrical Stakes: If the aliens win, they completely wipe Hyakki’s memory (meaning he could forget his mission, his identity, or why he is fighting). But if they lose... Hyakki drops his energetic "hero" persona and brutally murders them.

It's a massive tonal clash. Visually, you get sleek, biomechanical sci-fi aliens fighting grotesque, traditional Japanese folklore monsters. Tonally, it starts with nostalgic, high-energy toy-commercial hype, but instantly drops into pitch-black horror and cold-blooded execution the second the match ends.

I wanted to create something that takes that childhood "it's time to duel!" nostalgia and completely deconstructs it into a gritty horror manga.

What do you guys think? Does a protagonist like Hyakki sound interesting to follow, and would you read a first chapter with this kind of twist? Let me know your thoughts!

Beginner tips

Hi everyone!

I’ve recently become interested in Super Sentai and I’d really like to start collecting the mecha/robots, but I’m completely new to the hobby.

I was wondering if you all had any tips for a beginner. Things like:

  • Which mechs are good first purchases?
  • Are there certain toy lines that are better than others?
  • Any advice for buying second-hand or avoiding overpriced listings?
  • Are there any “must-have” mechs that you’d recommend?

I’d also love to hear how you all got into collecting!

Thanks in advance for any advice. I’m really excited to get into the hobby!
