Zabrinutost brazilskog navijača

Pozdrav, hrvatski prijatelji.

What happened to the old GOP?

First of all, a disclaimer: I'm not American. While I'm a HUGE American History and Politics enthusiast, and I'm aware of the populist takeover of the Republican Party, I figured it would be nice to have some inside perpsective.

By the "Old GOP", I'm refering to the Party of Reagan, Bush Sr. and the likes. You know: free trade, free market, conservatism, international alliances, small government, institutionalism…

I don't know your takes, but I find it genuinely scary. Just 20 years ago, the GOP was a completely different beast. It is now an unrecognisable populist freak, to the point Bush Jr. is probably called a RINO by some in the Republican "base". It's such a brutal and fast turn that I find it dizzying, and really sad.

What happened to the actual, commited supporters of the Reagan conservatism and free trade, to the moderate Republicans? Have you gone to the Blue Dogs? Became independent voters?

(Also, yes, I'm aware figures like Buchanan, Gingrich and Limbaugh existed. But let's not pretend they were the whole face of the party lie Trump currently is. Buchanan and Limbaugh were fringes, and Gingrich was one of many people in the parry - as much as we can, and should criticise their complacency with his antics. And yes, Reagan's coddling the Christian Right should also be criticised, but again, his GOP is definitely not today's GOP)

Resources for beginners

I started Hebrew a few days ago using Memrise. Was enjoying it quite a lot, but as soon as I finish Unit 1, I find out I have to pay for the rest. I'd gladly do it, but money's tight right now.

Besides Memrise, what are some good resources for me, as an absolute beginner, to use? I'm really excited to learn Hebrew, and really wish not to stop right now!

I know this is probably a very simple question, but I just started to study Hebrew two days ago. I'm currently using Memrise (liking it, but you think there are better options, feel free to suggest them!), and the first word they teach is אבּא.

Fine, I was happy with learning my first word. But googling it, I saw lots of אבא, without the ּ.

Is that something I'm going to learn in the future and should simply go with it? Or should I be aware of the difference right away?
