When to start lessons
I’ve got an 11 year old who takes regular lessons, great golfer for his age, will almost certainly be better than me by 13 or 14, but my 4 year old is obsessed and begging to get lessons. I am not intending to push either of them into competitive golf; I am not a delusional dad lol. It feels kind of ridiculous to pay for a kid this young to be in lessons, but given that he’s the one asking for them, I’m at least considering it.
Golf coaches and pros of Reddit, is 4 just too young to start? He’s very attentive, and takes some amount of coaching from me and my son, but he wants an instructor like his big brother. I do not want to burden some poor person with an impossible task though.
I haven’t even tried to do anything with his grip or swing mechanics, and he can barely lift the club (side note: if anyone can recommend some light junior clubs, I’d love that)… I’m honestly shocked he finds the ball as well as he does.
