Universal Orlando making a temporary Universal Monsters Tiki Bar for HHN at Royal Pacific

"Jake’s American Bar at Loews Royal Pacific Resort will transform into the brand new Universal Monsters Laguna Lounge, a classic monster hideaway inspired by mid-century modern tiki.

Guests can catch characters like Frankenstein, the Bride of Frankenstein, the Invisible Man, and more lurking among the décor, along with larger-than-life photo ops."

One thing that doesn't seem to get discussed regarding the discontinuation of Fear with Express Pass

...logistics.

Specifically that multi day Fear with built in Express makes it impossible to determine the total number of guests with Express.

At best, you have a total number from single day Express and a rough estimate for that day based on prior years and other data/models.

The only alternative is you do some kind of pre-booking - like how Premier book their free HHN tix - it's a free for all. Any number of Fear with Express guests could come and just overwhelm Ops.

In other words, Ops can't accurately staff or determine the full needs of Express. So they killed it.

While this probably isn't the only reason -- $$$ -- of why UOR canceled Fear with Express, it was likely a major contributing factor. HHN is a major major event and they're moving towards streamlining.

r/Nova, talk to me? I'm at Inova and bored

Just chilling in this hospital bed rn.

Edit: Freedom, I made it out! No baby yet. Will update later.

Guys, the secret to Nova...you need to live in a 15-30 minute "village" from your house

That's it. That's the secret to Nova.

Everything within 15-30 minutes. Work. School. Groceries. Gym. Favorite restaurants. Bar. Parks. Recreation. Car wash (apparently). Etc.

Once your village goes beyond the 30 minutes - ideally 15 minutes or less - you're in for a bad time.

I feel the need to post this after all the rants lately.

40th Birthday Hotel -- Beekman, Greenwich Hotel, or Four Seasons?

Looking to do a ~3-4 day trip for my wife's birthday (after Christmas but before NYE). Looking to book a nice hotel, preferably with an in-hotel spa and/or close access to spa facilities. Any suggestions?

Also, if helpful, here is our short list for what to do for this milestone celebration. Appreciate any thoughts or recommendations.

  • The Grand Red Wine Experience at AIRE Ancient Baths
  • The Shibui Thermal Ritual (At The Greenwich Hotel --> wife lived our private onsen in Japan, and hoping for a similar experience)
  • Frick Collection
  • Silo for a concert (if schedule allows)
  • 2 or 3 * restaurant for birthday, thinking about Le Bernardin, Atomix, or Atera? (We enjoyed Quintonil if Mex City if helpful).
