Made an addon that automatically finds who can craft anything you need (Linked Inn)

NOTE: Make sure to install version v1.1.1 or newer, there was a sound issue with the previous release.

Figured there had to be a better way than spamming trade every time I need a crafter. So I made an addon for it.

It quietly builds a list of crafters while you play. Every time someone links their profession in chat, it saves their whole recipe list, and you don't even have to click the link. It also picks people up when they link something they made or can make, when you see them crafting nearby, or when they're in your group or guild. In cities and inns it takes a quick look at everyone around you every few minutes, and if you play with friendly nameplates on it checks everyone you walk past. Other people running the addon also share their professions with each other automatically, so the list fills up pretty fast.

When you need something, type the item name and you see who can make it, when they were last online, and you can whisper them with one click. You can filter by skill level too, so you only see the people who are high enough. You can also open anyone's recipe book with all the reagents, whether they're online or not.

There's also a Work tab, kind of like a reverse AH. You post what you want made, which mats you bring and what you'll pay, and crafters with the addon who can make it get a pop-up. They hit "I can make it" and you get their name to whisper or invite.

It's brand new so there are probably some bugs. Let me know if something's off or if you have ideas.

AI Disclaimer: AI was used during the development of this Addon. I'm a Software Engineer by trade with a masters in CS. I handle software daily through the whole pipeline including security. Code is never written entirely by hand anymore, not a single piece of software is. A good engineer knows how to utilize AI efficiently and safely. Optimization is a key factor since AI can get ahead of itself and not consider performance.

Update: Due to Forever not actual being realmless (read more here) https://www.reddit.com/r/wowforever/comments/1wxo2m8/forever_isnt_fully_realmless_there_are_hidden/ there are some limitations in the addon finding all guildmembers. I'm working on a workaround for it.

Update2: Good news. I believe I'm onto an idea that utilizes the Battle.net friend system to cross realms. Won't work perfectly until we have enough users of Linked Inn though to reliably have enough bridges to cross.

Camelot is not what you think it is, it's something more

I honestly think people are thinking way too small when it comes to what Blizzard is planning.

I don’t think they’re just going to take Vanilla and slap some new zones, raids and class changes on top of it. I think whatever is coming goes way beyond that. I have no idea what it actually is, but I have a feeling it’s something none of us are expecting.

Every major media company wants to keep its IP relevant and valuable, and Warcraft is still one of the biggest IPs in gaming. But let’s be real, the brand has slowly been losing a lot of its appeal. Blizzard needs a new way into Warcraft.

Especially if all the rumors about Netflix shows and other Warcraft projects end up being true. If they bring a bunch of new people into the Warcraft universe, where are they supposed to go? Retail? A 20-year-old game? Neither feels like the answer.

It’s the classic “listen to your customers, but don’t just give them exactly what they ask for” situation. People are asking for Classic+, but simply making Vanilla with some extra content isn't really a long-term strategy. Blizzrd needs something that can actually move Warcraft forward and bring new people into the IP.

That’s why I think all the discussions about whether we get a new race, new zones, a new class, etc. are kind of missing the bigger picture. That’s all small potatoes. I think we’re looking way too inside the box.

Classic, Era, Hardcore, Anniversary etc. have all been ways of keeping the existing audience fed and plugging player leaks. But eventually Blizzard has to think bigger than that. They need to actually rebuild Warcraft as a long-term IP.

And I think that’s what’s coming.

Maybe I’m completely high on copium, but I genuinely believe BlizzCon could absolutely shatter expectations and reveal something way bigger than “Classic+.”

I think WoW 2 is coming.

Affinity, and any other non-illustrator software, has lines between layers on .AI files

https://preview.redd.it/ezp33asydyfh1.png?width=156&format=png&auto=webp&s=cb9f63bd313b86f943ced4340bc1292da51330b9

I'm the designer of a card game. I've been trying to switch away from Illustrator for years but any software I use has the issue of there being a clear line between layers as you can see in the image. It's supposed to just be the blue colors as separate layers with nothing in between. I've tried researching the issue but nothing solves it. Now with this new Affinity I thought I'd give it a go but still the same issue. Does anyone know how I can fix this? I know i fiddled with some settings like anti-aliasing or whatnot last time after researching but nothing was an exact fix. It either ruined the quality, or changed it somehow.

And yes it's not just a visual artifact, it's there when you save the image as well as any format. Also any fixes need to be app-wide. I have made over a hundred cards, all with intricate layering. Any fix that requires me to edit the cards is unfortunately not going to happen and I'd sooner scrap the project or bite the bullet and pay for Illustrator.

The issue is that the layers don't overlap, they are split. So the white background is visible in any other software. If I could go back time I would make the layers more like an onion, where the lowest level layer covers the whole card and then each layer only trims away one part, that way everything has an underlying layer. But like I said, this took years to make so I'm not going to make any individual changes.
